What one word best describes your current state of mind? Why?

caffienated. I stayed up too late last night because I was having “date night” with my little guy and we stayed up watching Curious George 2 way past bedtime. So, now I’m depending on Starbucks and prayer to get through today.

What inspired you to begin blogging? What do you blog about? Complete this sentence: “I blog because….

I started because I was searching for a St. Patty’s Day kids’ craft online and came across a blog with all kinds of holiday craft ideas. It was my introduction to the world of craft blogging. I had been creating things for years and had recently started doing artistic things with my son, so I immediately thought how fun it would be to have my own space online where I could share our projects and hopefully inspire other people. It was also an outlet for me, as I was staying at home with him full time.

I blog about things you can create {by yourself or with your kids}, holiday projects, and things you can wear {fashion and beauty posts}, and I try very hard to keep it real. We play the “honestly game” at One Artsy Mama.

I blog because I hope to create, share, love, and inspire. I want to encourage people who think they’re not creative and show them there are things out there that are honestly quick, inexpensive, and easy to do.

What current projects have you engaged and excited?

Holiday projects with some really exciting new products I get to sample! I’m also totally pumped about attending Lucky FABB Conference

What term or phrase do you most over use?

fabulous, awesome

What are 5 things/items you think moms can’t do without?

1. Time off duty

2. Coffee

3. Oodles of patience or at least good acting abilities

4. A best friend

5. Headphones to wear during Elmo’s World and other particularly awful children’s programming

What is the best parenting resource you would recommend? why?

The Five Love Languages of Children was really helpful for me because I was able to identify that my five year old son best receives love through quality time and physical touch. Before understanding that, there were times when I felt like a human jungle gym because he was always wanting to climb or lay all over me, but when I realized that he was expressing and asking for love in that way, it made me much more patient and more deliberate about giving him the physical touch he needs. I make an extra effort to hold his hand or rub his back because I know that speaks to his heart.

What do you do in your downtime to relax?

What downtime? Haha. I guess I’d have to say reading a good book, reading the latest issue of Lucky magazine, or watching one of my favorite shows like So You Think You Can Dance or the Big Bang Theory. I’m also pretty addicted to Candy Crush, but I’ve been stuck at the same level for so long that it’s totally not relaxing at all anymore.

What is your favorite part about being a mom?

The incomprehensible love I have for my son that came into being the moment I saw his little face, and the special relationship that only a parent and child can have. I also love watching him learn and grow and show off his adorable personality.

What is a little known fact about you?

I’m a certified Ballroom, Latin, and Swing dance instructor.

Blow your own horn – what do you want others to know about you?

I’m awesome. I also run a Blogger Mentoring Course that goes for 12 weeks and provides one on one as well as small group mentoring for bloggers who want to grow their reach. We talk about everything from blog design and layout to photography to advertising and affiliates. I love being able to share what I know and watch it benefit others.
