Warning: Long Article and Picture Intensive
We battled this out to not even divulging the information to our parents for 3 months (First Trimester).
(Just 2 of us knowing is ?!) BUT WELL… 祕 I cannot keep secrets, I Tried! By the time this article is published, it would be a 3 months VERY looong article (Picture intensive).
The Chinese believe it is a taboo to reveal the pregnancy before the 12th week of Pregnancy. This is carefully adhered to in the Western culture because the first Trimester is the critically unstable period where most miscarriages tend to happen. Miscarriages at a later stage are rare. Well, to save oneself from more pain of dealing with a miscarriage and then breaking the bad news again, if the good news was blasted to the whole world, oh dear, hence the first Trimester is usually kept a secret. This is also the period where the Gynae would be more concerned with several questions concerning the health and well-being of the Mommy.
HubBear wanted to hold the information until 1st of April 2014 but I checked the Chinese Calendar and IT IS A BAD DAY LOL!!! Today, IS OUR LUCKY DAY hence this scheduled post 6pm LUCK HUat ah!!!
The Great Transformation
Original Me: 49Kg, 25inch Waist, B cuppy with Thigh Gaps, Sexy.
I still have my thigh gap but they are losing the space.... my shorts and pants keep getting crumpled up near my groin area and I really hate it so much (the friction and the unsightly tugging them out) I wear dresses every day. I don't really enjoy pregnancy as much as I want to, it is impossible.

31 January 2014 (4 Weeks 2 Days)
- Everyone gave us blessings during Chinese New Year and expected a Baby announcement:
"WELL SORRY no good news"
- Eye rolling glares at HubBear and beginning to doubt his competency lol~
- By this time, we’ve been trying for the 4th time for a baby. We started in October 2013 =P I was still not pregnant on the day we wedded so… FAIL.
- It didn’t help that I was diagnosed with a severe UTI after the wedding because I forgot to Pee for 3 days. We visited the GP for medication and he gave us 3 more months to try. Not very Happy is I.
- Boobs are engorged and I’m cramping = usually this means my period is ANYTIME! I’m spotting a little as well so.. FAT HOPE!

3 February 2014 (4 Weeks 5 Days)
- My Period didn’t come. Hmmm I’m due 27 January and a week LATE!
- HubBear thinks I’m pregnant. To Squash his dreams 'again', I went to buy the pregnancy test kit.
- I took the test and waited 3 minutes = I KNEW IT! JUST 1 LINE appeared WAHAHA (but the toilet was too dark so I finished my business and walked back quickly to office to take a clearer pic to send over to HubBear ‘sniggers’)
We are PREGNANT!!!
- I hesitated. This could be wrong. For 1 hour, I sat on my chair in a daze, I did not tell HubBear, yet. I didn’t know I took one Hour hahaha! I took out the Kit again and ok, this is not wrong. The Lines are damn clear.
How to Tell HubBear:
I was wondering if I should wrap up the entire thing in several layers of newspapers and then get a courier to send it to his Office. I kind of imagined the entire MAYHEM I would have caused (I’d stick awful stickers sending everyone into a frenzy panic) and his entire office building would know I’m pregnant and I’m not sure if my Aunts would be happy about it (taking into consideration the Chinese TABOO). Hmmm what if I came out in the papers... Not funny.
SO, I snapped a Pic and sent it to HubBear. I could not see his facial expression but I can guess he would have no Facial Reaction because he’s always been Solemn, even if he was extremely Happy. It is like his face is Botoxified LOL~

10 February 2014 (5 Weeks 5 Days)
- Fierce Little Bump spotted
- I have gained 5.5kg
- Cannot stop pigging out (if I don't eat I will become dizzy and puke and faint gahhhh!!!~~~)
- I love spicy food like Tom yummy, curry, laksa woo la la
- Too much gas in stomach makes me burp and fart a lot a lot, in a nicer term it's called Flatulance (Fart) and Eructation (Burp)
- Anxiety attacks because NOBODY KNOWS!!!
12 February 2014 (6 Weeks)
- I cannot hide the bump anymore
- and I cannot HIDE THE SECRET ANYMORE LOL! Told my Aunt who then prepares DELICIOUS YUMMY FOOD FOR ME
- And then I feel like telling the whole world already!!!
- Got reprimanded by Aunt and HubBear zzz

15 February 2014 (6 Weeks 3 Days)
- Our memorable First Visit to the Gynae with our 2 Big Bubbles. Our Big Bubbles were exhilirated when they witnessed the scan and heard the loud heartbeat of their sibling for the first time in awe and a million and one questions (Why bla bla bla? Why bla bla?)
- Checking in at 55Kg
- Cuteness. Gynae measured my Due date as 8 October but we’re rooting for 5 October which is MY BIRTHDAY! I calculated online using the cycle length, LMP, and all sorts of whatever which I have been tracking since January 2013 hehehe now we Pray!
My Mom's having possesive thoughts
- Broke the news to my parents later that evening after we picked them up from the Airport. We had a game of GUESS WHAT WE DREW (we drew an ultrasound pic and it is really funny because my parents just couldn’t guess it right) hehe!
- We started the $50 bet for a Boy or a Girl guessing contest! Collected $400 already and still counting.
- Announced baby news with my In-Laws woohoo~
17 February 2014 (6 Weeks 5 Days)
- No severe morning sickness (well I get it only if I don't eat so...)
- Unable to tell if it is me eating too much or what! I gained 6kg argh~~~
- I feel Horrible, Bloated, Gassy, Angry, Ugly, Big and Hungry!!!

Bought my Stretch Mark Creams (damn Kiasu)
- HubBear massages our bubbly bump and my fat legs with the oils every night hehehe

- 2nd Gynae Visit - Checking in at 57.8Kg
- Gynae says TOO MUCH WEIGHT GAIN!!! To control diet.
- I explained that if I don’t eat, I’ll faint and become nauseous and I’ll vomit and pass out.
- Booked our Hospital Ward at Mount Alvernia (Kiasu), was informed by nurses to go for maternity tours. (Too much info - Separate Article)
5 March 2014 (9 Weeks)
- How do you hide the bump urgh it is too obvious BIG is an understatement. I think I’m HUGE.
- I don’t believe I have lost any weight LOL
I love homemade Spaghetti!!!!
- Bedtime is 9pm = Lethargic SLEEPY Love my Sealy Bed
- I have a BAD NECK-ACHE AGH I need a new good pillow

14 March 2014 (10 Weeks 4 Days)
- 3rd Gynae Visit
- Checking in at 59.9Kg (I gained 11kg in my First Trimester AND STILL COUNTING WTH)
- Gynae says PLEASE CONTROL YOUR DIET!!!! I replied: Well I vomited but but but… I don’t know how come I didn’t lose weight LOL Hard ok.
- I cannot fit into all my clothes. Wearing maternity bras and XL panties zzz, HubBear’s clothings and went on an online spree but I feel so UGLY I ended up buying just 2 pants in retaliation (and they came in WRONG (short pants instead of the long ones I ordered) AGH, but the kind seller decided to give me the correct pieces at no extra cost and I can keep the wrong items as a gift from her SO SWEET!)

- Nightmare: I dreamt I was giving birth omg!!!! SOMEONE TOOK THE MASK (laughing gas) AWAY FROM ME!!! I can kill with my mighty bite. Oops I need to get a teether. Must be a sign from God.
- I love Vegetarian Bee Hoon with Curry!!!
- Aunt used an age-old Chinese method to predict the baby’s gender. I was asked to grab a handful of rice. She says it will be a BOY. Will she be right? What is my choice - A Girl actually hehe
- We bought 4 pieces of baby clothings at a bargain woohoo~~~
- We haven’t made space in the room for baby yet. Hmmm, not panicking yet? The furthest I can think of is what am I going to eat later…
17 March 2014 (10 Weeks 5 Days)
- Pregnancy has turned me into a fat "I look like a Full Moon" woman with the only consolation of a bigger chest area!!! GAH!!!! Demoralized.
- I tried to squeeze into my shorts. FAIL
- How do those pregnant woman look so SEXY GOOD and I DON'T!!! I HATE BIG CLOTHES and I'm not buying anything for myself *Frowns* (except for the 2x PANTS since I'm wearing my dresses as SHIRTS, 2 new maternity bras and 3 new panties *frowns*) Hopeless *munches Grapes and Nerds*
- I have applied for a space in a Kindergarten WAHAHAHA well the Que is about 2-3 years long!~ And I love that Kindergarten (I never had to worry for my biggest Bubble, she's got a strong foundation) and I still regret not sending my small Bubble there. Anyway Baby Bubble will be there yay the Principal has confirmed~ CHATSWORTH!
20 March 2014 (11 Weeks)
- I've informed my immediate boss about Bubbles, and then shared the news with my team of colleagues. They have been trying to stop me from eating hahaha ahh I love them so much
- Have to control my urge to swallow cheese products. The mac&cheese Sides that came along with the Salmon Fillet was unable to stay in the tummy. Zzzzz
- We went to Adventure Cove to float around. HubBear bought me a Ripcurl hat to cover my face because he figured losing the $500 sunglasses would be insane. He slapped my entire body and face with so much Sun Block (because I couldn't stop grumbling) lol much to the envy of all the men and ladies there hehehe
- HubBear couldn't stop grumbling about spending $36/pax to just float around hahaha well the Que for most rides were ridiculously long. We did go to the wave pool to float around but he complained that he could touch the floor and the life jacket on him was irrelevant LoL well I can float and I hung onto him like he was a beacon
- The toilet is terribly small with very limited cubicles. I had to stand waiting for 45minutes for my turn and that, I don't think I will visit again.
- HubBear bought a Diaper Bag from LV for my mother to carry diapers, milk, porridge, wet wipes, toys, towels, clothes etc muahahaha it even comes with an additional wrist pouch. He's a little unhappy because there is nothing new for him to get for himself lol
- Appetite seems to have shrunk down by half. Anything overboard summons the Merlion in me. Trying to enjoy a relaxing night before the OSCAR test tomorrow. Discovered a stretch mark during the routine massage. Little nervous about the needle prick tomorrow, phobia!
25 March 2014 (11 Weeks 6 Days)
- We are taking our Oscar Test today and have taken a day off work. Rather stressed but praying for the best.
- Checking in at 61kg (12kg weight gain!!!) despite the plummeting appetite and ridiculous nausea at the beginning of the second trimester?!
- Sonagrapher says baby is very healthy and we will have to now wait 2 days for the blood test result to confirm. Measurements of baby bubbles are in the good range and we should have nothing much to worry about. She says accuracy is 80%+/- So Regardless of the blood test result, we will not take the amnio test eeks. Baby was very active during the scan and even flipped over because I kept laughing. We are 12 weeks and scan measures EDD to be on 7 October 2014. 6 more months and we can't wait to see baby bubbles already!
- Saw the marketing TVC of Mt Elizabeth Novena on CNA and now we are undecided between Mt Elizabeth Novena and Mt Alvernia. We have up until 5 April to discuss with the Gynae if he will be able to deliver our baby at Mt Elizabeth Novena. HubBear likes Mt Elizabeth Novena and says if Gynae can deliver there, we are set to book that space there instead hehe! I like Mount Alvernia's new Super Deluxe Wards although I'm not really excited about the birthing pain?
26 March 2014 (12 Weeks)
- Today we are in our 2nd Trimester yay! (According to the Sonagrapher)
- My boss is soooo Sweet. She checked in with me early this morning for baby bubbles's OSCAR result hehe and told me to "go slow". On food? lol I'm so happy and the feeling's like Magic
- I think the entire office knows (because I'm round) and so many lovely colleagues have popped by my 'working-nest' to congratulate and laugh with me. Their excitement and eagerness really makes me 'high' and I am now doubly excited (numb the pain) and planning for the full month celebration in the Office WAHAHAHA yes Food. I cannot stop thinking about Food.
- My sweet colleagues have been passing me clothes and baby stuff WEEEE it feels just like XMAS I am so grateful and now I am eager to buy thank you gifts for them. I'm SO HAPPY and so loved, I love my Office colleagues! I'm told I don't have to buy anything hahaha well well ok...
EXCEPT: My Maclaren BMW Pram! We went to the Baby Hyperstore showflat yesterday and well I fell in love with the Blue Maclaren BMW Pram. There is going to be an EXPO Baby sale soon and the SalesLady told us she will offer us the EXPO price so we didn't have to struggle with the crowd. Well HubBear (a Shopaholic) refused to buy and insisted I wait for the EXPO *frowns* so he can see more baby stuff zzzzz I have to bring our maid to carry the spree home! *annoyed* I told him I am not getting anything else except the MACLAREN BMW PRAM (and he kept parading the MINIs in front of me like a Salesman!@#$%)
Other than feeling Awfully Fat, Today is a Great Magical Day.
And I got a PACKET OF NIBBLES FROM A COLLEAGUE HAHAHA yummy
