Have you been to Cuba and ventured off-the-beaten-path? We need your words and images for our next Insider’s Guide to Cuba!

We’re looking for locals and travelers that have been, seen and experienced Cuba beyond the city walls of Havana.

Have a look through the titles and let us know in the submission form below which ones you’re an expert at and why you are perfect to write the story.

Please note – we have a specific brief, with specific requirements for style, tone and approach. DO NOT SEND COMPLETED WORKS THROUGH MOJOS. You must apply to be awarded the commissions and we will be in touch if you are successful with more details regarding the assignment.

First draft by 10th March

Payment: 50 cents (USD) per word. If you’re a blogger, writer or author, we’re also happy to put a backlink in the author bio. For photo stories, payment will be discussed separately.

The Brief:

Select one or more of the following stories about Cuba. Please note, though included experiences under each story is mandatory, we also welcome your personal tips and additions – you’re the insider!

1. Cost Guide to Cuba (400 words maximum)

Keywords: Food costs, accommodation costs, transport costs, getting cash out at ATMs, Please reference in $USD.

2. Finding and Booking Accommodation in Cuba (550 words maximum)

A how-to guide for travelers to Cuba. How to find places to stay, how to book accommodation, how must it will cost. Include: local homestays, hostels, hotels.

3. Visas and Vaccinations for a Trip to Cuba (550 words maximum)

How to get a visa for Cuba – talk about various scenarios and confusions around visas. Mention insurance, and showing your insurance for the duration of the stay upon arrival. List vaccinations you must get before a trip to Cuba.

4. Getting to Cuba/Getting Around Once You’re There (550 words maximum)

How to get to Cuba if you’re flying through the US (at the moment there are issues around this). Best way to get around Cuba – generic overview of transport and logistics. Driving in Cuba.
