Attraction:  Thomas Land at Drayton Manor Theme Park

Date of review:  13 April 2014

Reviewee:  Kelly, husband Paul & children Casey & Logan (3 years) along with Auntie Allison & Uncle Mark too!

OVERVIEW OF EXPERIENCE:

Overall mark out of 10 (1 being the worst and 10 the best): 9/10

What did you enjoy most about the day?

We had a great day out at Drayton Manor – with the majority of our day being spent at Thomas Land!

Logan loves rides & all of the 13 rides are aimed at young children, some of them more daring than others but all good fun!  Favourites worth mentioning were Diesels Locomotion Mayhem (Uncle Marks favourite!), Jeremeys flying School (where Auntie Allison took over the controls!) & of course a ride from the Knapford Station, where we were lucky enough to ride on Thomas – the boys were thrilled!

Considering that we visited on a Sunday during the Easter holidays, the queues were not too long (the longest infact was the queue to get into the park!) but most of the rides in Thomas Land were limited to one adult per row, so some queues that looked small & quick infact took longer to get to the ride than we thought

Drayton Manor itself had plenty to offer all ages – A roller coaster that you actually stand up on while looping the loop! Water rides where you get absolutely drenched! A zoo & small farm for those calmer moments – there really was something for everyone

What did your kids enjoy most about the day?

The ride on Thomas was the highlight for Casey – Logan loved every ride he went on

What didn’t you or your kids enjoy?

Nothing – they had a great day

If you could make one suggestion to the attraction to enhance your experience what would it be?

More picnis areas within the park – I’m sure in the hight of the season it would be hard to get a picnic table!

Was there enough to do for a whole day, or is it more of a morning or afternoon event?

This is definitely a whole day attraction – we got around most of it but there were some rides we just didn’t have time for

Any other comments that you would like to share?

A great day out, especially with families with younger children.  Having said that, there were plenty of larger, ‘thrill’ rides for the more adventurous!

ENTRANCE

Overall mark out of 10 (1 being the worst and 10 the best) 6/10

Have you been given all the information that you needed for the day including maps and programme of events or is there anything else that you would have like to receive?

Everything was given to us at the ticket desk – including plenty of maps

Do you have to queue for long to get in, and was there anything to keep the kids amused whilst you are queuing?

There was a long queue & it would have been good to have a few more positions open.  There was nothing to keep the kids entertained, but I have not been to a theme park yet that has…

MAIN ATTRACTION

Overall mark out of 10 (1 being the worst and 10 the best): 9/10

Is the attraction easy to find/well signposted around local area?

Yes, well signposted & easy to find

Is the attraction easy to navigate around once you are inside?

Yes, very easy to get round with the help of a resort map!

Is there room to easily wheel a buggy (single, double or triple around)?

Plenty of room in the main park area, Thomas Land was obviously a little more crowded with buggies but we had no problems with our double

In your opinion is the attraction suitable for children of different ages regardless of the age restrictions advised by the attraction itself

What is there for 0-2 year olds? So long as your child can walk, then there was something for them but ideally save this trip until they are a little older…

What is there for 3 – 6 year olds?  Great age to enjoy most of the Thomas rides

What is there for 6- 12 year olds? Plenty of options of rides, older children will prefer the main Drayton Manor area

What additional costs are they when you are in the attraction?

There are restaurants, snack shops & ice cream venues – along with themed shops & arcades

What day of the week are you visiting the attraction?

Sunday

Do you find the volume of people at the attraction acceptable (i.e. to busy, empty, comfortable) and what is busiest time of the day?

It was busy but we didn’t have to queue for more than 10 minutes for a ride

What is the average price range for items in the gift/souvenir shop?

Overpriced I’m afraid, as with all theme parks – we didn’t buy anything

Are there any special deals or discounts?

Yes, loads of people in the queues to get in had half price discount vouchers or 2for1 offers that they had found online

TOILET CHANGING FACILITIES

Overall mark out of 10 (1 being the worst and 10 the best): 7/10

Were the toilets clean? Yes

Were there separate baby changing facilities? If so, were they clean and user friendly (e.g. sufficient space for buggies)  Yes – most seemd to be located within the disabled toilets, so plenty of space

Were the toilets well located to the main attractions?  Yes, we had no problems finding them

FOOD/REFRESHMENT FACILITIES

Overall mark out of 10 (1 being the worst and 10 the best): 8/10

Would you recommend the restaurant/refreshment facilities? What was there to eat for you and the kids?

Plenty of choice around the park, but mostly what you would expect at a theme park (burgers & chips, snacks etc)

Was the food reasonable priced? What did you and the kids end up eating there?

Food and drink in the park were slightly above average, but not breaking the bank!  We chose to take a picnic lunch anyway

Can you feed the baby there and are there facilities to heat baby food (e.g. microwave and bottle warmer)?

I’m unsure – if needed check before you go
