Being pregnant can make you feel fabulous or awful, depending on how lucky you are! But now coming up for hopefully some good weather and wedding/occassion season are you just dreading having to find a dress to make you look fabulous, that is comfy but doesn’t cost the earth too? Plus if you are still working you have the heat in an office environment and want to look smart, but you know those heels have got to go!

Here are a few thoughts to help get you through the summer and a few of our fave dresses for that summer occassion:

The first trimester is hard when you know your fantastic news but potentially not everyone else does! What you do know however is the button is pulling on those trousers but you are not big enough to wear maternity clothes yet. What to do?  Dresses or leggings and long tops are fabulous, they hide the growing bump for as long as it needs hiding but they are comfy too. Empire lines work well to hide things, plus wear a blazer or cardigan undone. If you still want to wear skirts and trousers – a stretchy waist band can be great to see you through until those maternity trousers are needed!

Invest in a stretchy black dress, ideally with short capped sleeves. This is a staple, you can add short sleeved (for that hot office!) cardigans or pumps for colour but this is great for looking smart but being comfy!

You still want to look good but need to feel comfortable, invest in a great pair of maternity jeans and trousers, these can then be pulled out to wear with different tops to dress them up or down.

Buy cute flat shoes so you don’t lose your feminine appearance but do loose the discomfort of heels!

A maxi dress can be great in the summer – smart enough for work or nice for an evening out, but covers the bump, hides white legs and is comfortable too.

Comfy knickers are a must have! Just some cotton one’s potentially in a bigger size but that fit under the bump – or invest in maternity ones for over the bump, but these can be expensive and not as comfy as you may have hoped for!

So wedding season or that party, you want to wear something to make you look and feel wow, but potentially you are going to get 1 maybe 2 wears out of it, so it has to be cost effective too? Here are a few of our faves:
