Kitchen Sink Cookies Recipe

Why are these cookies called Kitchen Sink Cookies?  Because one of the things that I remember most fondly about my dad is how when he would order a pizza, he would say that he wanted everything but the kitchen sink.  So, when I mix up a batch of these cookies, I liketo include anything and everything I can find.  Up to 2 cups of mix-ins.  I generally keep it at a cup and a half of mix-ins.

You can choose almost any cookie mix-in, but here are my favorites:

Chocolate Chips

Butterscotch Chips

Peanut Butter Chips

Chopped Nuts

Coconut

Raisins

Seeds

M&Ms

Reeses’ Pieces

Trail Mix

Here is the basic recipe:

1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)

1 cup crunchy or creamy peanut butter

1 cup white sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 eggs

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

Up to 2 cups of Mix-Ins

Cream together butter, peanut butter and sugars. Beat in eggs.

In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir into batter. Add your mix-ins.  Put batter in refrigerator for 1 hour.

Roll into 1 inch balls and put on baking sheets. Flatten each ball slightly with your hand. Bake in a preheated 375 degrees F oven for about 10 minutes or until cookies begin to brown. Do not over-bake.

Let cool on the cookie sheet for at least 2 minutes before you transfer to a cookie sheet.  Allow to cool completely before you enjoy.  However, these are soooooo amazing, we generally devour a few as they are coming out of the oven.
