We’ve all seen the little Box Tops for Education symbols on food packaging right? The idea is you clip them out, save them up and mail them in or drop them off at your child’s school. In return, money is donated to your school of choice for items they need. It’s really a great program, but even with the best of intentions, clipping the box tops can be a forgotten task. The people behind BTFE understand this and are working hard to create even more ways to raise money for our schools. And with the ever-increasing internet usage, going digital seemed like a logical next step.

Now, at any time during the day or night when you shop online, you can raise money for your school! All you have to do is go to the BTFE.com marketplace and choose the retailer with whom you want to shop. They have over 300 retailers to choose from including Walmart, Gap, Old Navy, Expedia, and Office Depot. When you click the retailer through the BTFE site instead of going directly there, your purchase amount is recorded and a percentage (which varies depending on the retailer) is donated to the school you choose on the BTFE site at no extra cost to you. Your credit card information is not sent to BTFE and your transaction is still secure, just as it would be when you shop online otherwise.

Once you set up your account information, shopping through BTFE really only adds the extra step of signing in through their site and clicking the link of the retailer you want to shop! You can scroll through and even sort by donation amount to see who has the best percentage of purchase donated.

I was sent a gift card to try this service and it was really easy. I shopped Old Navy and Athleta and my order was exactly as it would have been on any other day only this time I was able to help out my local school! And speaking of schools, you don’t have to have a current child in school to donate. Anyone can look up a school and select it. You can see which schools have raised the most (or least) amount of money. Imagine how awesome it would be to find a school with a great deal of need and start helping them out just by shopping online like you normally would?

I think it’s a great program and I plan to use it as often as I shop one of their approved retailers. Check it out! And while you are over there, check out their bonus page for extra ways to win money for your school!
