It was a total success!
On Thursday, December 1st a brand new trail hit Sligo. It was the very first of its kind: Sligo Fashion Trail. Following the success of Galway Fashion Trail and Athlone Fashion Trail, it was time to descend upon Yeats’ Country.
The Glasshouse
We started the morning with a Bloggers’ Breakfast in The View Bar at The Glasshouse, overlooking Sligo town. Many visitors commented on the view and how lovely the hotel was. We were well looked after with a delicious full Irish breakfast to set us up for the day ahead.
It was great to host a fashion focused event in Sligo for a change; I’m usually the one hitting the road early, travelling to these events around the country.
Quayside Shopping Centre
The first fashion show took place at Quayside Shopping Centre with style from Next, Jodi’s Boutique, Oasis, TK Maxx, Lifestyle Sports, Exhibit, Monsoon and Gerard. Young Irish Designer Roseanne McNamee‘s creations also featured. She is a recent Fashion Graduate of St. Angela’s College.

Hair on the day was by Lydia Murray, located in Quayside itself. Each model donned a sleek ponytail – a personal favourite of mine. Makeup was by MUA Amy Christie and Mary Keane’s team at Ballinode Community College (Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB).
Cáit & I
Before the next show was a shop visit to Cáit & I. For many, it was their first time in-store and they were blown away by the quality and choice in this beautiful little shop and especially that all products are Irish and handmade.
Johnston Court Shopping Centre
Johnston Court lent itself really well to the fashion show. Crowds gathered as the models took to the runway. Fashion exhibited included Vila, Pamela Scott, The Athlete’s Foot, Shoe Rack, Chloe’s, Mullaney’s, Jack & Jones and The Closet.
Designs by young Irish Fashion Graduate Jade Reidy wowed the crowds. Mandy Maher of Catwalk Modelling Agency commented on the finish of Jade’s garments – exceptional for such a young designer.
Mulled wine flowed thanks to Hargadon’s, there was a visit from Santa and mini models took to the podium in children’s fashion from Chloe’s. Organisers of the trail were very impressed with just how organised Jon Dunt (owner of Johnston’s Court) was. Everything ran very smoothly.

The Belfry Bar
After a fashionful morning, it was time to refuel at The Belfry Bar. Bloggers, models, organisers… everyone was treated to lunch thanks to the kindness of the Quinn family. It was a welcomed pitstop and before long it was time for round two of shows at Johnston Court and Quayside, respectively.
Anna’s Fashion & Lifestyle Boutique
Wow, did this shop impress! Mandy Maher was in heaven; We all were. Anna’s is such a beautiful store. Everything is perfection: from the decor, to the scent… to the style of course. We were greeted with gin and warm smiles. It’s incredible to see the garments styled to perfection. The girls looked absolutely stunning. Mandy commended Anna on her boutique, her eye and her taste. There were discounts on the day and we each got an incredibly generous goodie bag from Anna. I know were I’m getting all my Christmas outfits this year!
Each look was complemented by jewellery from Martina Hamilton.
I invested in this white ensemble a few weeks back… looks pretty amazing on Wiktoria!
The Italian Wardrobe
The final stop was The Italian Wardrobe (Chiara Poli). What a turn out! What a spread! Chiara’s loyal customers gathered in droves to get a glimpse of the latest in Italian winter fashion. Everyone was treated to Prosecco and Italian bites. Marina Scally’s WithNora headpieces were the perfect finale to a truly fantastic day.

The Bourbon Bar
We finished up the evening with some complimentary cocktails and nibbles at The Bourbon Bar. Thanks again to the Quinn family. Gin in a tea cup! Loved it.
All in all, it was a fantastic day in Sligo. Golden Egg Productions organised the trail and Mandy Maher played a huge part. She is such a fabulous lady and has trained her models so well.
Here’s to many more events of its kind. As mentioned in previous blogs, these fashion trails are really beneficial to local retailers, designers and indeed customers. It’s great to discover new shops, enjoy a few treats and to see everything styled. It’s also a lovely way for us to meet new people and catch up with old friends. We (the bloggers) had Sligo Fashion Trail trending on Twitter!
