Controversial KKK pamphlet surfaces in Morgan County again

MARTINSVILLE — More white nationalist literature has been left in Martinsville driveways.

Several houses in Shireman Estates on Wednesday received unsolicited copies of “The Crusader,” which discourages readers from socializing with “non-whites” in its front page article.

The publication also directs readers to its website.

“It’s pretty sad that, in 2011, people are still throwing color out,” Shireman resident Dennis Hartzler said Wednesday.

In October, some residents of the Sunrise addition received a different edition of “The Crusader.” Resident Jennifer Coleman filed a police report with the Martinsville Police Department after finding one in her yard.

However, local law enforcement officials said there is little they can do. At most, they could issue a fine to those responsible for littering.

Coleman said her neighbors witnessed a maroon car with tinted windows throwing copies of the publication in residents’ yards.

Residents on the city’s north side may have found unsolicited Ku Klux Klan fliers at the end of their driveways on Wednesday.

For Blue Ridge resident Mike Molenda, Wednesday morning was the first time he’s found such literature on his property in the 17 years he’s lived at his home. A quick look up his street revealed most of his neighbors had received the fliers, as well.

Then, Martinsville issued a littering citation ...

MORE: See an earlier story, "KKK threatens to sue Martinsville after littering citation."

MARTINSVILLE — Martinsville City Court Judge Mark Peden found Thomas Buhls not guilty of a littering charge stemming from a May incident in which the man dropped off copies of The Crusader, the Ku Klux Klan publication, to businesses near downtown Martinsville.

Peden said the court was not going to get into the 1st amendment argument over free speech. And he said this was not a trespassing case.

“This is a littering case where the state alleged trash was placed on private property,” Peden said. “State law defines what trash is. That definition does not include newspapers.”

Because the newspaper is not trash, Peden said Buhls is not guilty of littering.

Being that I am trying to turn over a new leaf and not use any profanity it troubles me slightly to cast that aside this time..............that's just fuckin' nuts. So is this Thomas Buhls likely a real Klucker or is he just some prankster like the righties want us to believe? I re-read it, he actually really is a Klucker.
