Staff  not informed Phones 4u had sought administration until today – hours after story broke

Phones 4u staff have responded angrily after finding out their jobs were in jeopardy through the internet.

Mobile News has been inundated with calls from angry staff who only found out that their jobs were at risk when they saw the story online.

Workers have taken to Twitter to express their distaste at their lack of contact from the firm after the story about Phones 4u’s decision broke last night.

Some members of staff took to Facebook to express their dissatisfaction with how the firm had informed its employees about its future.

Some hit out at the firm for leaving the future of its near 5600 members of staff in limbo whilst others wished their colleagues well going forward.  Hundreds of posts were made on Phones 4u’s Facebook page.

Phones 4u employs staff in 550 stores across the UK but the firm announced it was going in to administration following EE’s decision to pull out of the retailer.  Vodafone also announced they would cut ties with Phones 4u last week, leaving the UK’s second largest mobile retailer with no network agreements in place.

Staff were called in to work this morning and informed of their fate after the retailer announced all stores would be shut for the day.  Reports on Twitter suggest staff at the firms Newcastle-under-Lyme would be updated on their futures during a conference call whilst stores across the country close down.

Phones 4u informed customers that its stores would not be open for the day with signs posted in the door.  The sign used in its Angel branch read:

Dear Customer,
