Earlier today, the official applications for Twitter on the iOS and Android got a much needed update bump. As expected, there has been a few additions to the application – the most significant of which lets you enrol in login verification and approve login requests directly from your mobile app. With this update, in addition to the SMS-based login verification that Twitter released in May, users can use login verification without relying on text messages alone. This new feature also means that you no longer need a phone number to verify your logins.
Twitter adds that it it has broadened international support for login verifications – which as you might be already aware, wasn’t functional in all countries across the globe.
Other feature additions include an improved search functionality. Now, when you search using the application, the search menu with suggestions will include social context, so you can see how you’re connected to other users. Incidentally, this feature was added to the web version of Twitter just last week.
Another major addition is a brand new Photo Gallery in search. This is how Twitter explains this feature; “Before, when photos were returned in search results, you could swipe through thumbnails and select photos to view full-screen. Now, you can select a new “View more photos” option that will lead you to a photo gallery of all the photos related to that search. On iOS, this same photo gallery will appear on user profiles, so you can view all of someone’s photos in one place. Users would also now be able to manage your lists within the application.
Twitter also adds that it has speeded up the launch time of the iOS version of the app. Head here to download the applications either from the App Store or Google Play Store
