Online-delivery service WeDeliver is launching its mobile shopping site ahead of the holidays. The company, whose primary business is providing same-day delivery for local merchants, announced during Techstars' Demo Day in August that it would begin offering a mobile commerce platform called Locally for those same merchants.  Read Original Content

According to an April 2014 report, Snapdeal revealed its mobile apps contributed about 45 percent of sales on the mobile platform in the previous three months. Mobile commerce has helped boost Alibaba’s revenue by a significant margin. The number of people using Alibaba’s mobile services has grown significantly over the past quarter, reaching 217 million monthly active users.  Read Original Content

BitPay is working to make paying with Bitcoin simpler than it already is. In order to do so, BitPay has partnered with SumUp, a developer of point-of-sale systems that accept Bitcoin payments as well as payments made with conventional currencies. According to a Federal Reserve report, "Consumers and Mobile Financial Services 2014," 17 percent of U.S. smartphone users have made a point-of-sale payment using their mobile phone in the past 12 months. Of those, only 14 percent waved or tapped their mobile phone at a cash register to make a purchase.  Read Original Content

Visa Inc. and MasterCard Inc. are facing a potential blow in Canada as the government prepares to give merchants ammunition to fight any fee increases stemming from the growing use of mobile payments. The changes could make Canada the first country to give merchants the right to reject mobile payments through Visa and MasterCard.  Read Original Content

Apple CEO Tim Cook said recently he planned to meet soon with Jack Ma, founder of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, to talk partnerships. Apple officials were tight-lipped about whether the get-together has taken place, but Cook has a number of good reasons to caucus with Ma, starting with mobile payments.  Read Original Content

Burger King has selected PayPal as a payment processor for their mobile app. To confirm payment a four digit pin is required.  The app will not only allow consumers to pay on their mobile devices, but will also offer exclusive discounts and general information such as Burger King locations, menu, and nutritional information.  Read Original Content

A new Accenture survey reports 40 percent of North American consumers have used their smartphones to make a payment at a merchant location, up from 16 percent two years ago. Read Original Content

New York-based cyber security startup HyprKey has announced it will launch phase one of its biometric mobile payments platform on November 16.  The company says the first phase, which takes the form of a mobile app and web browser extension, is a “sneak preview” for a more advanced fraud-elimination and mobile payments protocol.  Read Original Content
