The value of mobile commerce transactions conducted via mobile handsets and tablets will exceed $3.2 trillion by 2017, up from $1.5 trillion this year, according to a new report from Juniper Research.  Read Original Content

Somaliland, a region in northwestern Somalia, has one of the world’s highest rates of digital transactions. Most transactions are on Zaad, a service of the biggest mobile phone company, Telesom. A survey last year found the average customer made 34 transactions per month – a higher rate than almost anywhere else in the world.  Read Original Content

According to a study by ath Power Consulting, one in three consumers would be willing to pay something for mobile banking services, which is a 13 percent bump up from 2012's study results. Last year one in five consumers said they would pay for mobile services.  Read Original Content

The global advertising market will grow by a solid 5.1 percent next year and by 5.8 percent in 2015, led by a surge in mobile advertising. That’s the forecast from ZenithOptimedia, which says in a new report that mobile spending will balloon to $29.4 billion 2015 when it will account for 5.3 percent of the overall $560.1 billion advertising spend.  Read Original Content

According to Market Intelligence Strategy Centre, mobile banking activity in Australia accounted for 40 percent of all digital banking log-ons, but just 9.6 percent of total digital transactions.  Read Original Content

GeoPay, which provides cellphone-based banking services for people who might not otherwise have accounts at financial institutions, has turned to decades-old technology to create a mobile banking platform. “It’s essentially like text-messaging the transaction to a merchant or to a peer,” said Darren Feeley, founder and chief executive of GeoPay.  Read Original Content

According to a study by Millward Brown, reward-based mobile advertising is “one answer to value exchange equation.” Rewarded audiences are over twice as likely to interact with brands. After seeing an in-app ad, 34 percent of rewarded users clicked or interacted with an ad, compared with only 15 percent of mobile users who had not participated in reward-based advertising.  Read Original Content
