The draft for season three of the Mania FFB League took place last night. Everyone but BJPennFan showed up to draft live. Here are the picks along with some quick thoughts and analysis to stir up some conversation.
Round 1

No big surprises here in the first round. I'd say that the biggest reach was donkey taking Stafford and the worst pick for sure was Deuce selecting MJD. I guess he wasn't following the preseason news and didn't realize that MJD is still holding out for a contract extension and has yet to report to the team. If Matthews comes back 100% healthy and stays healthy, Murph got himself somewhat of a steal at pick 12 considering that Matthews was the #4 ranked player prior to his injury. As for my favorite pick of this round, I am going with GriffinFan's selection of Run DMC. I actually had him as the 4th ranked player on my list so getting him at pick 10 is marvelous.

During the draft, some of us were discussing Jimmy Graham. It started when Joben said that he is ranked too high in yahoo. Yahoo had him at ranked at #11. I actually had him ranked higher than that and love him at the beginning of the 2nd round. He is going to put up elite WR1 numbers from the TE spot. He is the go to man on one of the highest octane offenses in the league. Come midseason, Matthews and Graham could be a hell of a 1-2 punch for Murph. Matt Forte lasting until pick 14 in a PPR league was pretty surprising to me. He typically goes off the board a few picks earlier. The player I was targeting in round 2 was Julio Jones. I expect huge things from him this season, like, the finishing the season as the #2 WR. Nice pick Drew. If I wasn't able to get Jones, I was looking for Cruz or AJ Green, but it was going to be a tough decision. Luckily for me, Joben snagged Cruz so my decision was simple. I really like all 3 of these 2nd year studs this season and expect monster season from them. Coming off big time injuries, I was looking to avoid Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles, so I'd say those were the worst two picks this round, but they can easily prove me wrong.

The WR trend carried into round three as 8 more of them came off the board. If Welker can put up the same numbers he did last year, Kevin got some great value in round 3. But this season, the wealth in NE will be shared amongst Welker, Gronk, Hernandez and Lloyd. Trent Richardson and the concerns surrounding his knee had him dropping all the way to the middle of the 3rd round. Before his knee scope, he was being drafted as the 11th player off the board. This will prove to be either a great pick by Drew, or a pick that costs him his season. I also like Puck's pick of Doug Martin. If he was still there in the 4th, I'd have taken him. Nice pick by Shiv with Sproles as well. He was a PPR top 5 RB last season. As for the worst pick this round? I don't see any.

Here comes the 4th round and here comes my first opportunity to really disagree with a pick. Hey, new guy. I'm talking to you donkey you stupid asshole. What the fuck are you thinking? First you reach in round 1 to grab Stafford, then at the beginning of round 4, you draft Matt Ryan? Really? You reached for a player again? AND even worse, you drafted a bench player in round 4? What are you thinking? Did you really think that this was a 2 QB league? Well, its not. Before yahoo re-did their rankings yesterday, Ryan's ADP was like 72. I was taking him in round 6 all preseason and wanted him on every one of my teams. But then the day of the draft, yahoo moves his overall ranking to 41 and he was now being selected in the end of the 4th or beginning of the 5th and I realized I could no longer get him. Fuck yahoo, and fuck you donkey. I'm not a fan of Michael Turner this year, so I don’t like Deuce's pick. Turner is getting older and the Falcon's are a passing team now (again, fuck you donkey).

I am a big fan of the Brandon Lloyd pick by BJ. He has top 3 WR potential. He has McDaniels as his coordinator again (had his big year in Denver with Josh calling the plays) and now has Brady as his QB. The only think hurting his draft value this season is that there are so many targets in NE. As for a pick I don't like, what's up Kev? Why are you drafting a backup QB as well? I don't get it. Another pick I don't like? Mine. With Ryan and now Vick off the board, there was no way I was going to let the fate of my season rest in the fondling hands of Ben Roethlisberger so I figured I had to take Eli and I had to take him now. It was a panic move for sure. As for another pick I like? I like donkey's pick of Decker. He has great value in PPR running the underneath routes with Peyton throwing him the ball.

Speaking of Peyton... I guess the old guys like to stick together. I like Torrey Smith a lot this year, but feel he could have been drafted a round later for sure. Stevie Johnson is the #1 WR in Buffalo and is a steal in round 6. Dwayne Bowe should have never lasted this long, great pick Deuce. Miles Austin and his weak hamstrings bother me. RG3 in round 6? Hey Buster, can you say REACH???

Finley lasting till the 7th was a great value pick for BJ. I like the upside of the two Lions drafted this round - Titus Young and Kevin Smith.
