Mount Lawley junior Hannah Green turned 18 at the weekend following one of the most exciting weeks of her golfing career. Hannah, the number two ranked woman in Australia, finished second in the Victorian Amateur strokeplay and then, on Monday, was named GolfWA’s Female Junior Golfer of the Year. It is a title that has eluded Hannah for the past four years as she has come up against Royal Fremantle’s Minjee Lee. However with Minjee having turned professional earlier in the year, it was Hannah’s turn to shine. Due to playing commitments in Victoria, Hannah was not able to accept her award at the presentations at the Royal Perth Golf Club. However, at yesterday’s Mount Lawley Junior Presentations Shonna Gobby, GolfWA’s Chair of High Performance, presented Hannah with her award and congratulated her on her outstanding year. Hannah then outlined her next few months of golf to those present.

On Friday in very hot conditions at the Gosnells Golf Club, Hannah took out her third WA Junior Girls’ Champion title with a thirty-six total of 76/68 to be square with the card.It was Hannah’s final day as a junior as she celebrated her 18th birthday on Saturday. Sparked by a birdie at the first hole where she holed a forty-footer, Hannah’s play in the afternoon was exceptional, with her iron-play allowing her putts inside 5 feet for birdie on a number of occasions. Hannah lowered the course record she already holds at Gosnells Golf Club by a shot. Mount Lawley’s Hira Naveed was runner-up to Hannah while Kirsten Rudgeley took out the sub-junior title as well as the Kaye Lane trophy for the best nett score. Hira also won GolfWA’s junior stroke averages trophy for girls at Monday’s award celebrations.
