The count is in, and it may increase a little – or decrease a little. It has taken me about a week’s worth of hours to formulate this game plan. I have had to revamp the itinerary several times for cost and time considerations.
I initially had wanted to spend the first few months on the West Coast, however the parks are too far from each other. Once I established that was a problem, it made life easier. Factor in some great scores on tickets for the Red Sox and Phillies, and I am looking at a ton of games on the Eastern Seaboard.
Highlighted in my April are 12 Doubleheader Attempts. Yes I am crazy, but this a good way to put a lot of games up early while I am freshest.
ESPN has also placed its first 5 games for Sunday night contests and surprise…the Yankees are in 3 of the contests. I am attending 4 of these games as part of Doubleheader days. The only one not consisting of 2 games is the MLB Season Opener at Wrigley Field on Apr.5, 2015.
I have slated to see most teams at least 3 times at home, and all teams but the Tigers at least once on the road. I will see Citizens Bank Park, Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Miller Park, Safeco Field, Nats Park and Citi Field at least 11 games or more.
There are 46 Doubleheaders in the 179 games played, with potentially more coming on the way. I could have a few taken away with my schedule projections as well. Right now the Royals, Padres, White Sox, Astros and Indians have not placed their start times yet (Shame on them, LOL).
When I was in RF Bleacher I also was able to meet up with Larry Lucchino..
A lot of clubs have also not given away certain games, with Saturdays and Sundays being most common, for special TV dates and so forth. I am still thinking I could add a few more games.
One of the factors that is influencing my trip is the Canadian Dollar. Yes… I am a citizen, and our dollar is being thrashed right now versus the Yankee Greenback. I at least had some foresight to deposit a lot of cash into a US Account months ago – when it was near par levels.
I will have to monitor that situation as well. It has already cost me a chance to go for my own World Record. I wrote a blog about 3 weeks ago stating I may go for it. A lot of teams have come up with different start times on the weekend, and it blew any schedule chance to put a record streak together. If I were just set on breaking that record, I could afford to spend some extra loot, however I must stay focused on the whole year.
Attending a game a day at least will be tough, but I am up to the task. To my knowledge, this will smash any record previously for seeing games in one calendar year as an MLB fan, and certainly for a person seeing all 30 MLB parks.
I have 2 more blogs coming out on why I am doing this streak, followed by followed by a press release coming soon after that. There is also a chance for some big news regarding the trip that could help with the marketing of it all.
When the season starts, there will be a daily blog preview of each individual travel day, I will be live tweeting from the ball games, and also writing summaries of the games. All of that, and run a website when I get a spare minute or 2.
Here is the Trip.
Pretty much 97% will stay the same – I may alter a few games based on Doubleheaders becoming available. Each team scheduled for min 3 games so far.
179 days of action (I didn’t include the 4 day ALL – Star Break.) Could add more DH with more ESPN Sunday games, or any TBD left could help out. KC, CWS, SD, HOU and CLE all not listed game times yet and could create 6 – 8 more contest
225 Games in 179 Game Play Days + 4 day break for ALL – Star Game (183 Days) 46 Doubleheader Attempts. Have to see home team field for min 5 innings to qualify it as a game put on the board. .
I will see my two favorite teams (Yankees and Nationals) in several different cities and are the most common opponent – along with the Braves and Rays).
