Description

The College of Europe, Natolin Campus, the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF), and the Polish American Freedom Foundation have founded WEASA, Warsaw Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy, to present the political, social and economic foundations of modern democracies in the European Union and the transatlantic community and further promote the values of freedom, pluralism and peace.

In 2015 WEASA will take place from 29 June-10 July and will be focus on one of the most actual and economically and politically sensitive theme, energy security. The participants will reflect on the impact of energy architecture on the global, regional and national markets and their broader influence on both domestic and foreign policy. They will also discuss the challenges and opportunities for assuring energy security in their respective countries, as well as within the European Union and in the United States.

The WEASA program will be delivered by prominent academics and analysts from leading European and American think tanks, as well as high-level officials and practitioners.

Eligibility

The summer academy is intended to policy analysts, experts, advisers, civil servants, private sector/NGO professionals and journalists. Participants must meet the following criteria:

citizenship and permanent residence in one of the Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine;

higher education (Master’s degree or equivalent);

minimum 5 years of professional experience;

English language proficiency.

Costs

Warsaw Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy will cover travel and accommodation costs.
