If you have room for super-large smartphone in your pocket or your heart, then Huawei’s latest flagship smartphone might stagger you a little. I have never seen as big as Huawei P8 Max phone yet! You might want to call it a tablet, smartphone or a phablet for its colossal screen size but, one thing is great – the price tag will not scare you for sure. If you were planning for its closest rival (slightly larger) Nexus 7 or Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (slightly smaller), then you need to check out this flagship device first because this is going to cost a lot cheaper.

But first thing first: what’s the difference between Huawei P8 Max and P8?

First Huawei released the successor for Ascend P7 targeting latest handsets such like Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge while its bigger [literally] ace is aimed at combating those with mammoth screen size such as Galaxy Note 4 or iPhone 6 Plus. That’s why Huawei has chosen the screen size for the two on the basis of the bracket and the pie of successes those are designed to vie for.  Apart from 5.2-inch Full HD JDI display of Huawei P8 and an immense 6.8-inch Full HD screen on Huawei P8 Max, remaining features on the specification list do not seem to vary much. Common features on these Huawei P8 Max and P8 include

13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilizer

5-megapixel selfie shooter front camera

Kirin 930 octa-core processor

16GB or 64GB of onboard storage with expandable memory slot

3GB of RAM

Dual-SIM capacity

Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

So, with all these high-end set of features, will Huawei P8 Max stack up against the bandwagons of biggies or worth your pocket, in that matter? We have measured the device on these angles to analyze – check it out.

Display

In addition to the humongous size, the screen also boasts a bright brilliant display with sharp details. Especially when you use play video or games, you will see the content pop out with minute details. To protect this major property from accidental scars and bruises, Huawei has armed the screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protective coating. Its vivid display adds extra sharpness to the overall sleek and skinny [6.8mm and 228g weight] design.

Camera

P8 Max shares a plethora of camera features and specifications with its younger sibling P8. The camera is loaded with 13-megapixel rear camera shooter with 5-megapixel camera front camera which is optimized for selfie shooters. The rear camera also packs in additional features to add power to smartphone photographers such as a 4-colour RGBW sensor, Image Signal Processor, an autofocus, OIS-enhanced lens, and dual-LED flash to shoot with adequate light to shoot during night-time or in the poor ambient light. The camera has several ready-to-shoot modes such as Perfect Seflie options, Light Painting and Time Lapse and many more.

Hardware

Huawei P8 Max is powered by the same an Octa-Core Kirin935 CPU clocked to 2.2GHz and a 3GB of RAM, similar to P8. Though Huawei P8 has both single-SIM and double-SIM, however, Huawei P8 Max comes with dual SIM capacity. But, there is a catch – inserting a second SIM will cause a little problem in using MicroSD card slot. For wireless connectivity, Huawei P8 Max bundles a dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, LTE 4G, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.

Battery

tThe battery life complements massive almost 7-inch screen size which is 4,360mAh battery that claims to keep the phone up and running for prolonged hours including heavy uses such as 15 hours internet browsing, 10 hours of movie streaming, 60 hours of audio playback and about 2-days of phone call usage after a single charge.

Verdict

If P8 looks smaller than your craving for monstrous screen for better media gaming, browsing, video playback or other media consumption, then this beast is for you. Huawei P8 Max is bigger than its big counterparts in the market in affordable price point with goodies such as dual SIM, 128 GB of space (including 64GB onboard and 64GB microSD card storage) and 3 GB RAM.
