The regal battle between Twitter and Facebook is legendary. Did you miss some real actions between these two, then here they got into the battle of vying for their pies in social video sharing. After Twitter pioneered with Vine, Facebook was not behind. The social network launched ‘Video on Instagram’ this June 20. Ever since then, several facts and data revealed Vine is losing its fan following to Facebook’s video on Instagram and steady rise of Instagram’s video sharing features. One such evidence was that more than 130 million Instagram users have uploaded video footage within first 24-hours of after ‘Video on Instagram’ was debuted.

So, now we know that Instagram became the rage instantly, but will Instagram continue leading Vine? Which is better and easier for you in sharing video on social media?

Video length

Both Instagram and Vine will render creative opportunities for professionals and amateurs to post their videos. But Twitter’s Vine videos are about 6.5 seconds long whereas Instagram allows posting upto 15 seconds of footage which is roomier than Vine for markers who want to reveal more product details in order to capture the audience.

Filters and editing features

Both Facebook’s Instagram and Twitter’s Vine will allow users to capture several small clips and merge disjointed video clips together. In this, Instagram is one step ahead as it also allows removing a poorly shot footage. However, you can only remove the last clip. Here is one thing you need to know, you cannot select a video shot using your Smartphone camera app; you can only use clips taken by Vine or Instagram apps.

Like stills, Instagram also allows adding filters to video clips whereas Twitter’s Vine has no editing features. Instagram has retained its classic range of 13 filters which you used with Instagram photos. Whereas Twitter’s Vine does not offer any filter to enable you to add pizzazz to your videos. Doesn’t Twitter want to enable their creators to create interesting ‘Wow’ videos like we can do on Instagram?

Another attention grabbing feature of Facebook’s Instagram was ‘Cinema’ feature. This feature offers video stabilization capabilities, similar to image capabilities, to users to smoothen and beautify those shaky clips to create professional look. You can check differences in your clips as you select and deselect ‘vibrate’ option.

Social sharing

Social sharing options on Twitter’s Vine are limited as compared to scope of sharing videos via Instagram. Twitter’s Vine will let you share only on Twitter, Facebook and Vine whereas Instagram opens more avenues to populate your videos. You can choose several apps to spread your videos from your Smartphone that are Facebook, Twitter, foursquare, Flickr and Tumblr and email. However, both Instagram and Twitter’s Vine share one thing in common in social media sharing that is tagging feature. Both Instagram and Twitter’s Vine will let you geo-tag locations while sharing their video on social networks.

Other notable similarities and dissimilarities between Facebook’s Instagram and Twitter’s Vine are: both apps offer autoplay functionalities. At that, Instagram allow users to pause when the footage streams before it plays; no such streaming and pause/play control can be found so far with Twitter’s Vine. Vine videos when being played on computers can be muted, whereas Instagram will not let you mute the clip. Moreover, you can play Twitter’s Vine videos for several times, on loop whereas Instagram videos can be played only once. While Instagram videos appear like a short movie, Twitter’s Vine videos repeated and appear as .gif animated photos.

If you are a social media video aficionado, you must try these two Instagram and Vine apps on your Smartphone.
