Anonymouse1: Hello fellow xbox gamers. I
felt the need to finally give you loyal xbox gamers a bit more info on our current situation in regards to our powerful GPU that powers the Xbox one Console.
Let me start off with this, I have been a reader of this blog on occasion as i am always a big fan of xbox loyalists. Great website here and wow what a great bunch of gamers here!!
I want to clear up some confusion going on here with some doubts going on about the insider posting information here. I will go as far as to say that this "insider" here is in no way in trouble with us at Redmond, WA.
With the bit of information you have received thus far i can confirm that our gpu chip is indeed a "stacked" chip. As you all know by now the reason why we allowed some launch games to be released at sub 1080p resolution is definitely not because the Xbox One is a underpowered machine but because we must play our cards this way in order to not reveal how much more powerful our graphics solution in the Xbox One console is over the much weaker PS4 counterpart. Yes i understand it may seem unreasonable to allow developers only access to a certain portion of the GPU in Xbox One at this point but the main reason why many Xbox One games so far are not true 1080p HD games is that later down the road we want to catch Sony with their pants down right when they believe they have this generation won. At this point we will reveal the full tools and middleware to our developers so that will finally have full access to the much more powerful Xbox One hardware that literally is an entire generation ahead of whats under the hood of PS4.
Make no mistake about it, the Xbox One console is a massively more powerful machine and is the only true next gen console this generation. While it seems to make no sense that we decided not to reveal the true nature of the power in Xbox One from the start of the launch, you must understand there are many reasons behind our decision to make Xbox One look much weaker in power compared to PS4 right now. Yes we realize this makes no sense but rest assured my fellow Xbox gamers! The Xbox one has multi-layered processors that will soon be revealed to the entire world! Exciting times ahead for Xbox One gamers. Some of the stuff we are working on in-house match even what is only capable on high end PC's at this point. You all will be in awe once we finally reveal the true power of Xbox One.
Again, i just want to reassure you that all the sub 1080p games currently out on Xbox One is only out there to fool Sony and so that they believe they have an advantage but the true nature of all of this is for a purpose. To catch Sony with their pants down when they believe they have a more powerful system but in reality the Xbox One is much more powerful.
I just want to thank all of you that purchased the Xbox One. You have some cutting edge tech with our new Xbox One. The true nature of the power of Xbox One will be revealed soon and as more and more games come out the more and more we will reveal the true nature of the power of Xbox One and the only reason why some Xbox One games are not full HD at 1080p is because like i stated already..we are waiting to show our cards on the true power of the Xbox One console.
Thank you for your loyalty It means so much to us!!
Former Xbox One design team member: You guys should be detectives. I was part of the initial design of the Xbox One and have since left to form a startup. The goal was to have a 10-year lifecycle for the console and the only way to do so is to stack silicon and slowly unlock power over the course of its lifetime.
I feel we made a bit of a mistake in the first rev in not releasing enough power. It's a simple firmware tweak and from what I understand speaking to my ex-coworkers a tweak is planned from the first major firmware update to bring it in parity with the PS4 in terms of power. I understand that games like Assassins's Creed 4 and Battlefield 4 will get updates to unlock 1080p 60fps but I don't have much insider knowledge outside of Microsoft on that matter.
It may seem like a crazy play but just think of five years from now when the PS4 is completely tapped out and Sony is forced to release a new console all we do is turn the final knobs and have a console that is 3 - 4x more powerful at a $200 price point. Management has said it before and I will back it up, this is not a sprint -- it's a marathon. By E3 the true power of the Xbox One will be realized, make my words.
Former Xbox One design team member: Just a little trivia. We called this effort "Project 22" internally based on passage 22 from The Art of War by Sun Tzu:
"22. If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant."
I pinged one of my previous co-workers this morning and he was really reluctant to share any new information. It seems they are a little up in arms at the moment with all of the leaks. This information was supposed to be a big surprise that was not going to be revealed until E3 2015 at the earliest. I have to admit Sony did fool us into thinking they had weaker hardware but as long as we unlock just 20% of our reserved capacity we will not only be in parity with the PS4, we will exceed its performance in most cases. Keep in mind, that's with only 20% of the hidden power unlocked. We still have 80% to unleash over they next 10 years.
I am convinced that books will be written about this strategy one day. Never before has a consumer electronics device pulled off such an amazing feat of secrecy and long-term customer value.
Misterx: Great info.
Hope 2015 will not be too late and you guys have a plan how to conquer all negativity and lie about Xbox. Social media and FUD could kill any brand nowadays(Misterx: As i believe Sony 1st party employees use lie and brainwash in full force on internet since 2009 as they know MS will dominate them no matter what and will create better system and infrastructure. Sony is almost bankrupt and prepare to go software only).
insidr1234: I've signed up with an account so I can keep posting and not be anonymous. Like I said, they are looking at releasing an update that will put them at performance parity with the PS4 with the next major firmware release. This will be before E3 for sure.
insidr1234: As I said before it's a marathon not a sprint so hold tight. There will be revelations in the coming months that will quell all the Xbox One naysayers. The Xbox One is a 10-year proposition and there's no way we're giving Sony the upper hand in power. Not a chance.
Your detective work scratches the surface on the hardware front but from a software perspective the harmony between hardware that scales in power over the life of the console combined with software that changes with each revision will be amazing to witness. Like I said, books will be written about the Xbox One strategy and studied in universities in the years to come.
Misterx: That was re-post from January 2014. Update to bring parity with PS4 and take the lead is on the horizon. Many developers said about it already since than. So...great times ahead. Don't be a fool. Stop hate and believe dump journos who constantly lie about Xbox. They are all in a trap. The Xbox secrets are not hidden well and many could solve this puzzle if they will not ignore MS official words.
To ignore Microsoft official words like "supercomputer tech", "10 year plan", "power of the cloud" is absurd because MS is open company and everybody will go to a court if they lie about "cloud makes every xbox one 3 times more powerful", "4k games are possible" or any other "fantastic"(according to haters) Microsoft claims.
Misterx: Got a PM.
"I have a friend who's cousin works for Activision, he has confirmed that they are under NDA, told my friend who is a PS4 fan, that come 12 months he will be converted to X1 and wont look back, MS is just winding up to blow us all away and cant say why.
this story comes from the fact he visited my friend the other week saw he had both consoles and asked which he preferred, my friend stated PS4.
Activision employee stated: "Well come 12 months you will change your mind that's all i can say"
the employee is from the California Branch of Activision, that's all i know.
Didn't want to post to world as i cant validate the source, but i trust my friend because he seemed too excited about it.
made me think of this blog. :)"
