I am blogging on behalf of BlogPaws Pet Blogger Network and the AKC. I received compensation for my time from the AKC for sharing my views in this post, but the views expressed here are solely mine.

Uh oh! Looks like my Lady means serious business now! She’s done went and joined the AKC Good Dog Helpline! Them brothers and sister’s of mine are in trouble now! I won’t lie to ya – I do my share of not listenin’ and obeyin’ too, but I ain’t as bad as some of em! I’m guessin’ we drove her to it by not actin’ right. So, looks like we’re all in for some serious trainin’ goin’ on round here! I ain’t tellin’ on nobody, so I’m gonna let my Lady tell ya what our troubles are, while I mosey on over here and practice bein’ good.

Here’s what my Lady says she needs help on from the Good Dog Helpline

We are glad to have found the Good Dog Help Line! Here at our house, it seems our pack has really grown! Along with this, we have had several training issues pop up. We now have a seven inside dogs! Yep! We have a mini shelter going on here! The first three or four additions seemed to be no problem to train, as they were added one at a time. But that was not the case with the rest of the pack. Seems circumstance caused them to need a home all at the same time. But, along with adding them all at once, came the training issues.

A couple of weeks ago I told you about signing Maggie up with the AKC Good Dog Helpline. If you remember, the AKC Good Dog Helpline is a live telephone service designed to help all dog owners with tips and advice on their pet’s behavior. They have trainers that will help us understand what our dog’s actions are telling us, and then give us tips and advice on getting the desired response from them.

Here are some of the reasons we signed up for the Good Dog Help Line!

Even though we signed Maggie up for the Good Dog Helpline for some basic dog training and obedience issues, we have several dogs with the same exact behavior problems. By getting the right advice on how to go about helping her, we can help the rest of the pack too! I don’t have bad dogs – just bad dog behavior!

One of the first, and worst, behavior problems we have is jumping on visitors at the door! They hear a knock, or the door bell, and you would not believe the ruckus! Six very large dogs and one little yapping chihuahua all running and jumping at the door! You can’t even get the door open, must less let your visitor in. It has became a major problem! Not to mention, we can go outside for 5 minutes and come back in and you would think we had been gone for weeks! We really need suggestions on how to make them behave properly when someone is coming through the door.

The second reason we need tips is the leash pulling. While Maggie pulls on her leash, Seager (above) is the main one, along with a few of the others. I am sure you know what I am talking about. Instead of you walking the dog, the dog walks you? When you are dealing with 85 pound dogs, it makes it hard to keep control! I am hoping by following the Good Dog Helpline advice we can get this dog behavior nipped in the bud.

Then, we have the chewing problems! Maggie doesn’t chew anymore, but Brandi (pictured above) is a constant chewer! We were blessed with Brandi and Ozzy, littermates, from a stray mother. They were born here and left for us to raise when they were 4 weeks old. They are now 8 months old and chewing through house and home! Not only do they chew the occasional shoe, they are chewing the floor and walls! We definitely need some advice on how to stop dogs chewing on things and this destructive dog behavior!

Finally, our latest adoptee that showed up here is a pint sized Chihuahua. She is pretty much trained and follows all obedience commands except one very important command. Maggie and the rest seem to have selective hearing on this command also. So, we are looking forward to any dog training tips and advice from the Good Dog Helpline! It might very well save their life someday!

As you can see, we have our work cut out for us. The truth is, we have seven because I just could not turn any away. But, with seven dogs in our home we need them to be obedient and well behaved in order for us to all get along. But, regardless if you have one dog, or seven, everyone wants a well trained and obedient furbaby. Who better to trust for tips on dog training than the AKC Good Dog Helpline?! With the Good Dog Helpline service, you get unlimited phone calls (toll free number) and it last throughout the life of your dog. From puppyhood to adulthood and on into their senior years, they are there at the tip of your fingers by dialing the phone for help. I can see them on my speed dial now!

We have high hopes for the Good Dog Helpline. Maggie is the ring leader of the pack and usually the others will follow suit. Plus, the valuable advice in helping Maggie, will aid us in helping all of them, hopefully turning chaos into peace in our home!

We look forward to help on these issues from the Good Dog Helpline

jumping at the door when visitors arrive

pulling on the leash

how to stop dog chewing

recall, or coming, when called

how to train in a multi-dog household

We are extremely pleased to have joined the AKC Good Dog Helpline service, where we will have access to knowledgeable trainers and unlimited phone calls! We are anxious to get started following the advice. If you would like to join, the service cost a one time fee of $79.99. This for the lifetime of your dog. To us, this is well worth the cost to have access to professional trainers when we need it with only a phone call!
