A quick look at rookies who have cracked their respective team's Opening Day 25-man rosters.
Opening Day is finally here for all 30 teams and now we have definitive 25-man rosters. This means some rookies are starting their MLB service clock for the first time while others are trying to build on brief 2015 appearances. Let's go team by team and see which of these newcomers are not only on the roster, but a part of the starting nine.
AL East
Baltimore Orioles - Out of options RHP Dylan Bundy made the team as a relief pitcher. Joining him in the bullpen are RHPs Mychal Givens and Tyler Wilson, while RHP Mike Wright is slotted into the rotation. RF Joey Rickard, a Rule 5 pick, made the team as their starting right fielder, and Korean import Hyun Soo Kim made the team in a reserve role.
Boston Red Sox - 3B Travis Shaw beat out the Kung Fu Panda, Pablo Sandoval in a well publicized Spring Training battle. RHP Noe Ramirez joins the Sox bullpen
New York Yankees - RHPs Johnny Barbato and Luis Cessa cracked the bullpen, and infielder Ronald Torreyes joins the team as a back up.
Tampa Bay Rays- LHP Enny Romero is a part of the bullpen, making a scoreless appearance in the first game of the year.
Toronto Blue Jays - A pair of right handed rookies joined the pen with Rule 5 pick Joe Biagini and Arnold Leon making the team.
AL Central
Chicago White Sox - No rookies made the Opening Day 25-man.
Cleveland Indians - Tyler Naquin joins the team as their starting center fielder.
Detroit Tigers - Homegrown RHP's Buck Farmer and Drew VerHagen are in the bullpen to start the year despite being developed as starters.
Kansas City Royals - Reymond Fuentes cracks the Opening Day lineup as the starting right fielder due to injuries to their regular RF Jarrod Dyson.
Minnesota Twins - Perennial top prospect CF Byron Buxton is now primed to run with the starting role. Another Korean import cracks the roster, 1B Byung Ho Park, and is the starting DH.
AL West
Houston Astros - 1B Tyler White is the talk of Houston as he earned the starting job with impressive numbers throughout his career and Spring. 3B Matt Duffy joins the squad in a reserve role, and RHP Michael Feliz made the team as a bullpen arm.
Los Angeles Angels - 1B Ji-Man Choi made the team as a back up first baseman and left handed bat off the bench.
Oakland Athletics - RHP Ryan Dull is the only rookie on the team, serving as a bullpen arm.
Seattle Mariners - RHP Tony Zych cracks the bullpen while 1B Dae Ho Lee makes the team in a reserve capacity.
Texas Rangers - 32 year old RHP Tony Barnette finally makes his MLB debut after a successful career in Japan. Joining him in the bullpen are fellow rooks RHP Phil Klein and LHP Andrew Faulkner.
NL East
Atlanta Braves - No surprise the rebuilding Braves have a few rookies on their 25-man. Hector Olivera will man left field for the team while RHP's Daniel Winkler and John Gant are in the bullpen.
Miami Marlins - The Marlins will start the year without any rookies on their 25-man roster.
New York Mets - Top ranked LHP Steven Matz fills out the dynamite Mets starting rotation.
Philadelphia Phillies - Rule 5 LHP Daniel Stumpf cracked the bullpen as the second lefty.
Washington Nationals - The Nats, like Miami, opted to begin the year without a rookie on the team.
NL Central
Chicago Cubs - The Cubs are starting the year without any rookies.
Cincinnati Reds - Top prospect RHP Robert Stephenson will start the year on the 25-man roster, but it will only be for a spot start. The Reds will also have a number of rookies filling in for injured players starting the year on the DL. RHP Caleb Cotham and outfielders Adam Duvall, Scott Schebler, and Tyler Holt made the team with Schebler getting the starting nod in left.
Milwaukee Brewers - Rule 5 pick 2B Colin Walsh made the team as a back up infielder, as did SS Yadiel Rivera. Keon Broxton also made the team and is starting in center field.
Pittsburgh Pirates - The Pirates are another team to decide on no rookies to start the season.
St. Louis Cardinals - Another Rule 5 pick, RHP Matt Bowman makes the team as a bullpen piece, as does "The Final Boss" RHP Seung Hwan Oh, a dominant closer in Japan and Korea. Journeyman outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker made the team as well.
NL West
Arizona Diamondbacks - RHPs Jake Barrett and Silvino Bracho make the team as flame throwing relievers. 3B Brandon Drury makes the team as a back up infielder, and CF Socrates Brito is the fourth outfielder.
Colorado Rockies - A pair of rookies are in the bullpen in RHP Miguel Castro and LHP Jason Gurka. Tony Wolters makes the team with the rare catcher/middle infielder skill set, as do short stops Trevor Story and Cristian Adames with Story getting the starting nod.
Los Angeles Dodgers - Two rookies crack the Dodgers starting rotation - Japanese import RHP Kenta Maeda, and RHP Ross Stripling. C Austin Barnes will serve as the back up with 2B experience as well, and CF Trayce Thompson joins the team in a back up role. Then there's that Corey Seager guy who might be alright.
San Diego Padres - RHP Colin Rea joins the starting rotation while Rule 5 pick RHP Luis Perdomo makes the team out of the bullpen. Another Rule 5 selection, RF Jabari Blash, made the team as a back up, as did homegrown speedster CF Travis Jankowski. Also making the team is master prankster Cody Decker who can play 1B.
San Francisco Giants - Back up catcher Trevor Brown beat out Andrew Susac for the role and is the only rookie on the roster.
