Welcome to the Gameday!

In a day full of huge individual offensive performances, I'll give the nod to Carlos Correa for line of the day. He showed off his power and speed, knocking home run number five into the night with his 10th double, 11th stolen base and a single. He drove in four with one run scored. Kris Bryant wasn't far behind, hitting his 15th home run and 14th double as part of a 4-4 night with a walk. He scored once and drove in just himself on his solo homer.

Both Kolten Wong and Chris Owings had four hit games for their respective big league squads. Wong doubled for the 8th time, drove in one and scored one time. Owings racked up four singles, driving in one with one run scored and a walk. Red Sox short stop Xander Bogaerts had three hits also, smacking double number 12 on the year with a punch out, walk, and a run scored.

Padres infielder Jace Peterson was 3-5 for AAA El Paso. He doubled (#9), tripled (#2), scored twice and drove in one. Gregory Polanco picked up a three hit game as well, hitting his 15th double with a walk, two singles, his 11th stolen base and was caught attempting number 12.

The pitching performance of the day was easily the return to dominance of Tyler Glasnow. He showed why he is the 54th ranked player in the game and 30th best pitching prospect. The tall righty struck out 12 in 5.2 innings with just two walks and one hit allowed. This is Glasnow at his best, striking out everyone in sight while limiting hits and walking only a few. You aren't going to find many starts where he doesn't walk a batter, but one or two is manageable with the amount of swing and miss he brings.

The run of dominance Ben Lively showed to start the year was unreal. All great starts must come to an end though, and Lively showed he is indeed human. The Reds right handed pitcher didn't factor in the decision, keeping his record at 8-1. He did allow four earned runs in six innings on seven base knocks with four reaching on free passes. Lively struck out six with six ground outs and five fly outs. His ERA jumped to 1.48 while his WHIP spiked to 0.84.

One quick note from last night, the High Desert Mavericks had three pitchers combine to no-hit the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. In High Desert. Let that sink in for a second.

Miguel Almonte threw 6.1 scoreless for A+ Wilmingon, allowing five hits with no walks and seven punch outs. Twins righty Alex Meyer struck out eight in six innings with two runs crossing (one earned) on three hits and three walks. Astros right hander Lance McCullers scooped his fourth save, coming in on the back end of a tandem start, striking out six in four innings. He gave up one run on three hits and three walks. Sleeper Alert! Austin Voth continues to roll right along in the Sally for the Nationals Low A affiliate in Hagerstown. He tossed six innings with two runs scoring, giving up four hits, two walks and striking out seven. He's sporting a 2.49 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with a 2-3 record.

The Jake Thompson/Trevor Williams match up didn't happen. Thompson was replaced with a different starter, making the match up way less cool.
