Owners of a business in Boyne City are breathing a sigh of relief after a court announced that the city made an error when it rescinded their operating permit. According to the Boyne City Gazette, the wood fuel pellet manufacturer Kirtland Products has been fighting to operate their business since the fall of 2011. At that time, Boyne City cancelled the company’s permit, citing noise level violations.
However, the recent ruling by the Charlevoix 33rd Circuit Court states that Kirtland Products never violated any existing regulations or requirements, and that the city had no right to rescind the operating permit.
