4,504 stories about Twitter’s IPO were published to Outbrain’s network during the 5 weeks leading up to it (Oct. 1 – Nov. 6th).
We all know that there was a ton of hype surrounding the event, but can you guess which U.S. cities were the most interested in Twitter’s IPO? What about the least interested?
To answer this question, we calculated the percentage of each city’s total page views that these 4,504 Twitter IPO stories accounted for between Nov 1st and 6th:
You might have guessed that residents of San Francisco (where Twitter is based) followed the IPO most closely. In San Francisco, the IPO-related stories accounted for twice as many of the city’s total page views as they did in any other U.S. city.
San Francisco was followed by other cities in California as well as other cities known for their abundance of tech start-ups (e.g., New York, Boston, Chicago).
Probably much less obvious is the city that was the least interested of all U.S. cities in Twitter’s IPO: Helena, MT.
