Mount Abu is a well-known hill station in the Aravalli Range in Sirohi region of Rajasthan state in western India near the border with Gujarat. The greatest peak on the mountain is Guru Shikhar at 1,722 m above sea level. It is known to as ‘an oasis in the desert’ as its heights are home to rivers, lakes, waterfalls and evergreen forests. Its nearest Railway station is Abu Road Railway station.

How to reach ?

By Rail: Abu Road is the nearest railway station just 28 KM from the main city, Which is very well connected by rail routes to New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Mumbai. From Abu Road you can opt for state transport service (usually every hour) or Taxis on both sharing and private basis.

By Air: The nearest airport is Udaipur at a distance of 185 km, But Ahmedabad is having better connectivity and daily flights with other parts of the country and is just 221 KM from Mount Abu, from Ahmedabad or Udaipur you can book Taxi in advance.

By Road: Mount Abu is well connected by road with major cities of the country, nearest national highway no. 14 is just 24 Kms.

Points of Interest

1. Dilwara Jain Temples

It is one of the best Jain temple known world over for its outstanding design and magnificent marble stone carvings, some experts also consider it architecturally superior to the Taj Mahal.

2. Nakki Lake

The legendary lake with a very exciting story behind its creation is the heart of Mount Abu, the legend has it that this lake was dugg by Gods or Devtas using their nails or nakh that’s why the name Nakki Lake. People consider Nakki Lake as a holy lake and worship it. Nakki lake is also the only Indian man-made lake situated at a height of 1200 Meters above sea level.

3. Sunset Point

This point is very loving and interesting point, People enjoy evening by watching Sun Set with charming beauty.

4. Gurushikhar

It holds the respect of being not only the highest peak of Mount Abu but the whole of Aravali mountain range. It is located at a height of 1722 meters from the sea-level. Gurushikar offers a spectacular breathtaking view of Mount Abu town and green Aravali range.

5. Adhar Devi Temple

It is located in a cave. It is one of the well-known religious themed tourist destinations in the Mount Abu region. It is situated three kilometers north of the main town of Mount Abu. The Adhar Devi Temple is reached by climbing up 365 stairs carved into the mountain. The temple itself is located inside a rocky cleave and is reached by crawling through a small opening into the cave.

6. Gaumukh Temple

The Gaumukh Temple was built in its location as a dedication to Saint Vashishth. It is believed that Saint Vashishth performed a yagna there that created the four major Rajput clans.
