Because each motorist wants to be the first to cross the temporary one-lane Lapayan Bridge in the boundary of Linamon and Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte, no one wants to give in, some even occupying the opposite lane, resulting in a gridlock that took authorities hours to untangle Friday morning (14 Feb 2014). Motorists apparently listened only when armed soldiers came to help out. The Lapayan Bridge collapsed at the height of Typhoon Agaton last month, and the DPWH installed a temporary steel bridge so vehicular traffic could resume. MindaNews photo by Bobby Timonera
