SPECIAL assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go was named by Senator Leila de Lima as the one who called up PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa to reinstate suspended Supt. Marvin Marcos as chief of the Criminal Investigation   Detection and Detention Group (CIDG) in Eastern Visayas.

Marcos is being implicated in the shooting to death of Mayor Rolando Espinosa of Albuera, Leyte while the latter was in jail.

Although dela Rosa admitted it was Go who asked for it, the latter denies making the request by saying he didn’t know Marcos.

The issue of finger-pointing finally ended when no less than President Duterte in Davao City admitted it was he who directed Go to call dela Rosa and convey his order to the PNP chief. End of the story.

Tama nga yata si Vice President Leni Robredo when she said: “Iisang boses na lang ang naririnig natin sa administrasyong ito.”

But even if the President didn’t make the admission, Bong Go need not deny de Lima’s accusation. Being an alter ego of the President, the word of the latter is also his. He may just say inutusan lang siya.

One good thing about living in a subdivision where the President is also residing, aside from the area is being watched and monitored by presidential guards 24/7 (that is if he is in the city), traffic is at a standstill when the President passes by as motorists want to take a peek at his convoy.

For instance, last Friday night at around six in the evening, Jin Lorenz and I were coming out of the exit gate of SM at EcoWest Drive when my son informed me that “President Duterte is coming.”

I stopped the car and asked: “Saan siya, paano mo nalaman?”

Jin Lorenz said he is familiar with the Presidential “wang-wang” (not the “wang-wang” banned by PNoy. Magandang pakinggan ang tunog sa tenga ng kay Digong).

Suddenly, six or eight vehicles led by six uniformed rides on motorcycles passed through the opposite lane of EcoWest Drive from Quimpo Boulevard and sped away towards Times Beach.

Some SM salesladies and other customers of sidewalk “turo-turo” and bystanders at the middle of the road waved their hands to the convoy of Duterte as his vehicles passed by. Maybe to show how grateful they are for finally having a President among them. Nakakainggit talaga si Presidente.

Bong, kailan ko ba mako congratulate ng personal si Presidente?  Ang lapit-lapit ko sa kanyang bahay, yet as if I am thousands miles away.

PNP Chief Bato dela Rosa narrated his own experiences of Marcos dictatorial rule to allay fears of the people that President Duterte will declare martial law.

He said his father was beaten up by the Philippine Constabulary then and forced-fed with grilled bangus with the hot charcoal still sticking to the fish.

Dela Rosa said he, together with his companion, were rounded up by the PC for violating curfew hours and brought to PC barracks but later released the following day.

“If you went through something like that, you don’t want that to happen again,” he said.

If that is the only reason why Gen. Bato is against martial law, then the more he will be concerned if he only knew that there are more harrowing experiences of torture, murder and rape suffered by marital law victims at the hands of the dictator and his men that even in his grave Marcos will never be forgiven.

My younger brother Antonio joined his comrades in the mountains of Quezon province to fight dictator.

When he was captured and jailed in the Bilibid prison, one day we were informed that my brother died of unknown reason.

Gen. Bato, hindi ba mas napakasakit ang nangyari sa kapatid ko?
