One of the leading telecommunications companies has recently launched Global Filipino School (GFS) library which provides more than a thousand books for free that benefit both teachers and students in the public high schools.

Launched by Globe Telecom in time for the celebration of the National Teachers Month, the GFS library provides reading resources and promotes digital learning to more students and teachers nationwide.

“It is an E-Library that provides more than a thousand books and this is a long term educational initiative with the Department of Education which transforms public high schools to 20 percent e-learning schools,” said Miguel Bermundo, Globe Telecom Citizenship Department manager.

GFSLibrary.com is a web-based platform that provides free ad quick access to digital story books for children and young adults as well as textbooks on core subjects such as Math, Science, English, Filipino, Music, Arts, etc. The e-books may be opened via their desktop, laptop or mobile devices using basic ebook reader.

The website is a component of the GFS program, a lone term Globe educational initiative seeking to transform public schools into centers of information and communications technology excellence and innovative teaching methods in order to send the stage for 21st century learning.

“The bigger program the Global Filipino Schools Program where e-library is part of aims to provide free internet connectivity, providing ICT equipment, and teacher training on how to use and maximize connectivity and also the equipment you have,” Bermundo said.

In said program, Globe has partnered with schools in three Davao regions that will carry the GFS program namely Catalunan Pequeño National High School in Davao City, Carmen National High School in Carmen, Davao del Norte and Matti Comprehensive National High School in Matti, Digos City.

Under GFS these schools are provided with exceptional online connectivity to give homeroom teachers access to limitless teaching and learning engagements available on the internet that will help further improve their craft and make learning fun and interesting for the students.
