Are you ready to save Big Money on hotels, car rentals, and attractions?  Set your reminders now because Daily Getaways is back!

Daily Getaways is a 5 week long promotion offered every year by the US Travel Association.

Starting March 23, 2015, they’ll have a different daily deal with discounts on hotels like Hilton, IHG, and Club Carlson, car rental certificates from Alamo, and attractions like Universal Studios Hollywood.

You Could Save Big Money on Your Next Vacation With Daily Getaways Deals

Daily Getaways has released a preview of the 1st 3 weeks of discounts.  Let’s see which deals are worth getting excited about in week one!

How Does It Work?

Link:   Daily Getaways 2015

Starting March 23, 2015, a new deal will be available on the Daily Getaways website each weekday at 1:00 pm Eastern Time.

The start time is important.  That’s because there are limited numbers of discounts available, and once they’re sold, the deal is done!  In the past, some offers have sold out within a couple of minutes.

You’ll Have to Act Fast to Get in on Some of These Deals

You can NOT buy a deal until the date and time they are offered.

Note:   Last year, you’d get a further 10% discount when you used your American Express card.  But that’s NOT the case this year.

Deals for Week 1:  March 23 to March 27, 2015

1.   March 23, 2015:  Save 50% on Alamo Car Rentals

For $25, you can buy an Alamo car rental certificate worth $50.  They’re valid for rentals in the US, and you can use up to 3 certificates on a single rental (but taxes and surcharges have to be paid separately).

Save 50% on US Car Rentals From Alamo

I’d definitely shop around before buying these certificates.  That’s because you have to book directly with Alamo, and there are other ways to possibly save more money on car rentals, like using AutoSlash.

2.   March 24, 2015:  Discount IHG Hotel Points

This deal won’t last long!  You can buy IHG hotel points at a deep discount, in the following increments:

15,000 IHG points for $90 (0.6 cents per point)

25,000 IHG points for $150 (0.6 cents per point)

50,000 IHG points for $293 (~0.59 cents per point)

100,000 IHG points for $565 (~0.57 cents per point)

IHG normally sells points for 1.15 to 1.35 cents each.  And some folks buy points using the IHG Points & Cash trick for 0.7 cents each.  So ~0.57 to 0.6 cents per point is a very good deal!

IHG hotels include Candlewood Suites, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Hotel Indigo, Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts, and Staybridge Suites brand hotels.

For example, you could buy 50,000 points for $293, and use them for a stay at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa.  Emily and I stayed in an overwater bungalow there on our 2nd honeymoon!

A paid night at this resort costs 68,475 francs, or ~$603.

Use 50,000 IHG Points or Spend Over $600 for a Night at the InterContinental Bora Bora

You’d save over 50% by purchasing points through Daily Getaways and using them for an award stay!  But it might not be such a good discount at all hotels, so double-check first.

And folks who use the points for IHG PointBreaks rooms will do even better.  That’s because those rooms only cost 5,000 points per night.  If you bought points through this deal at 0.6 cents each, a PointBreaks room would cost $30 per night!

3.   March 25, 2015:  Discount Club Carlson Points

There are only 150 of these deals available, so you’ll need to have fast fingers to get a discount on Club Carlson points!

You can get:

50,000 Club Carlson points for $225 (0.45 cents per point)

100,000 Club Carlson points for $450 (0.45 cents per point)

Usually, Club Carlson sells points for 0.7 cents each, so you’re saving ~35%.

Club Carlson includes Country Inns and Suites, Radisson, Radisson Blu, Park Inn by Radisson, Park Plaza, and Quorvus Collection hotels.

But this is an even better deal for folks who have the Club Carlson Premier card.  That’s because cardholders get their last night free on award bookings of 2 nights or more.

For example, a Club Carlson cardholder could use 50,000 points (purchased from Daily Getaways for $225) and use them for a 2-night stay at the Park Plaza Victoria London (50,000 points per night with 1 night free).

A paid night at this hotel costs 329 pounds, or ~$485.  So you’d get $970 (~$485 x 2 nights) value from spending only $225!

Club Carlson Cardholders Could Spend $225 for 50,000 Points and Get a Stay Valued at Almost $1,000!

I may have to jump in on this deal!  As always, do the math before you commit to make sure the deal works in your favor.

4.   March 26, 2015:  5 Night Diamond Resort Stay for $525

Diamond Resorts is a time-share and resort management company.  Through Daily Getaways, you can get a 5-night stay at participating resorts for $525.

I wrote about this deal last year, and was a little suspicious because it seemed folks would be obligated to attend a time-share sales presentation as part of the package.

Million Mile Secrets readers shared their experiences and some gave positive feedback.  But before you consider this package, check the price of the resort you’re interested in online.  It’s not always a good deal!

For example, you could spend 5 nights at the Scottsdale Links Resort for $525 through Daily Getaways (not including service charges).

A 5-Night Stay at the Scottsdale Links Resort Costs $525 Through Daily Getaways

But I checked online and found pre-paid rooms here for $90 per night in July!  Five nights would cost  $450 plus taxes ($90 x 5 nights).  So you won’t really save money in this case with Daily Getaways.

Definitely check paid rates before you commit to this deal.  And read the fine print because there are a lot of exclusions (and they could even switch your accommodations at the last minute)!

5.   March 27, 2015:  Discount Hilton Points

With this Daily Getaways deal, you can buy Hilton points for 0.5 cents each.  Normally, Hilton sells their points for 1 cent each, so this is a 50% discount.

You can buy:

100,000 Hilton points for $500 (0.5 cents per point)

150,000 Hilton points for $750 (0.5 cents per point)

250,000 Hilton points for $1,250 (0.5 cents per point)

This could be a very good deal for folks who would otherwise pay cash for Hilton stays.

Hilton hotels include DoubleTree, Canopy, Conrad, Curio, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Home2Suites, Homewood Suites, and Waldorf Astoria brand hotels.

For example, the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island (where we stayed with our family last year!) is a top-category hotel and costs 95,000 Hilton points per night.  Or you could pay $2,240 per night for the same beach villa!

I’d Rather Spend 95,000 Hilton Points (Bought for ~$500) Than Pay $2,240 per Night!

Through Daily Getaways, you can get 100,000 Hilton points for only $500.  That’s a huge discount and a fantastic deal for this hotel.

Keep in mind, buying hotel points isn’t always a great deal.  It depends how you use them!

For example, a room at the Hampton Inn Cleveland Downtown on April 16, 2015, costs ~$149 or 30,000 Hilton points.  If you bought 30,000 points through the Daily Getaways deal, you’d pay $150 (30,000 points x 0.5 cents per point).

So always do the math before you redeem!  You could always buy points without a specific hotel in mind, and use them later when you find a deal that works.

And remember, there are lots of even cheaper ways to earn Hilton points!

Bottom Line

You could save a lot of money with Daily Getaways travel deals, which start March 23, 2015.

There are some very good prices in the 1st week for IHG, Club Carlson, and Hilton points.  And if you’re renting a car, you could save 50% on an Alamo car rental.

But some deals, like the 5-night stay at Diamond Resorts for $525, might not be worth it.

Last year, the best deals sold out very quickly!  So figure out which you’re interested in.  And you may want to set a calendar alert.

Stay tuned for a preview of week 2 deals!

Which of these discounts appeal the most to you?
