Here’s my Grand Hyatt San Francisco review! Hyatt is my favorite hotel brand. They have great luxury hotels all over the world. And Hyatt points go further than most hotel points.
On a recent trip to the West Coast, I made a point to stay at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco.
The Grand Hyatt San Francisco Had a Decent Snack Selection, Even for a Restricted Diet Like Mine!
I’ll give you a short tour of the hotel, and share my impressions.

I really like San Francisco. I’ve been to a lot of cities, and it remains one of my favorites. This trip, I decided to stay at the 4-star Grand Hyatt San Francisco.
My initial impressions were not great. The hotel felt big and impersonal. A reason I like staying with Hyatt is because they go out of their way to make each guest feel special and they are efficient
The reception area was very crowded, and I waited in line for an unusually long time. It felt more like an immigration line! I just wanted to go up to my room.
Reception Was Clean and Modern
When I finally reached the front of the line, the agent handled my reservation quickly. He informed me that every room in the hotel was filled! There must have been some kind of event.
I wandered around the lobby to take some pictures.
The Hotel Has a Beautiful Bar Area With High Ceilings and Gigantic Windows
My mood began to improve when I walked into my room to find a cocktail glass of strawberries, biscotti, and a delicious merlot on my desk!
I have Diamond status with Hyatt, and they always go out of their way to make me feel special. As a Diamond member, you receive special luxuries when you stay with Hyatt, like food & drink, bonus Hyatt points, or a locally inspired amenity.
I’m always impressed with the amenities Hyatt provides me as an elite member.
Look What Was Waiting for Me When I Opened My Door!
Hyatt does not have a lot of hotels compared to other brands, like Marriott and IHG. You’ll usually only find Hyatt hotels in larger cities, NOT small towns. So I stay with Hyatt whenever I have the chance.
Because of this, it’s harder for folks to maintain elite status with Hyatt. They know it would be much easier to earn elite status with Marriott. So they treat their elite members very well.
Good-Sized Room, Good-Sized Bed
The room itself was nothing special, but it was more than enough for my 1-night stay. Plus, Hyatt beds are pretty comfy! That said, I wouldn’t consider buying one, even when they were available for purchase! It takes away the thrill of staying in a hotel!
Artsy Bathroom With an Unusual Sink (Love It!)
The bathroom was neat looking, and very clean. The shower pressure was phenomenal!!
I left my bags in the room and headed to the roof to gather my bearings and take some more pictures.
Amazing Location With Views of Union Square
The Grand Hyatt San Francisco has a great location within walking distance of tons of stores (not my thing!) and great restaurants, like The Plant Cafe Organic.
Final Thoughts
If you’re heading to San Francisco, I recommend the Grand Hyatt San Francisco for the central location. But I wasn’t impressed with much else.
