My summer holiday is about to start… we are leaving today! And I can’t believe the summer is here already, it feels like it was yesterday we were celebrating Christmas, I guess this can only be a good thing…

This year we are going to Menorca, the smaller sister island to Mallorca in the Balearic Islands in Spain. With 2 small kids and a 2-month old baby we wanted somewhere with beautiful beaches and some peace and quiet, not too far from London and safe. I spent some of my childhood holidays on this beautiful island and I have very fond memories of the area, turquoise beaches only accessible by foot or boat, serene countryside and fantastic seafood… I can’t wait! Here are some of the essentials I’m taking with me.

My Singapore

We designed this bag with the idea of creating the perfect tote for travelling or running around the city. Spacious, very light and with long handles The Singapore makes the perfect travel companion. I love this tricolour combination with taupe that goes with everything and looks smart without trying hard.

My summer wardrobe staples

A pair of nautical shorts, these are from Zara, they're great as they're a bit tailored, meaning you can wear them both with a t-shirt to the beach or with a blouse at dinner.

A light jumper for the flight and in case it gets a bit chilly in the evening. This one which has an interesting shirt collar combined with light wool panels is by Joseph.

A cheerful bikini, I love the bright lines of this ruffled piece, I bought it at a small coastal store in Sweden last summer and it has become my favourite!

An interesting necklace with bright colours, this one is from Topshop and brightens up any outfit.

My phone

After 15 years as a loyal user, it was time to say goodbye to Blackberry. Two failed phones and the fact that most UK retailers are not supporting Blackberry anymore, caused my move. And I have to say the iPhone 6 is an amazing piece of technology! I still miss the Blackberry keyboard but everything else is from a different era, I am a convert now!

I'm known for dropping my phone on the floor all the time, so as soon as I got it I was gifted this very cool black ostrich cover from Ullu, which so far has beautifully protected my new phone while looking the part!

My in-flight entertainment

I find books are always a great way of keeping children busy on a plane, at least for a little while! On this flight we are taking a book for my eldest daughter from the Oxford Reading series, they are used in most schools in the UK and they are brilliant! For my middle one her favourite Peppa Pig book, always a winner, and for our little one Sophie the Giraffe, loved by most babies and parents in this country!

My chocolates

It’s no secret that I'm addicted to chocolate, so I'm taking a few favourites with me! Rebel Kitchen Chocolate drink, water, coconut milk, date nectar and cacao, apparently very healthy and it tastes amazing! And some small treats from Hotel Chocolat which are simply divine…

My beauty essentials

Elie Saab Le Parfum is my signature scent that I've been wearing for a few years and still love.

Blush powder by Kevin Aucoin, which I have recently discovered and does wonders for your complexion!

A red nail polish “happy” by Clinique and a nude shade “Mademoiselle” by Essie, I'm don't know yet which one I'll go for!

Trofolastin post-birth firming cream, I am not sure how effective this one will be, but I used Trofolastin anti-stretch marks on my stomach for my three pregnancies and even though I have dry skin and had big bellies (my doctor said I had a pool inside!), I got no stretch-marks, so can’t recommend this cream highly enough if you are expecting (you can get it everywhere in Spain and online elsewhere).

Avene suncream with SPF50+, I'm not blessed with skin that tans easily, I burn easily and have sensitive skin. I find Avene suncreams to be the best for me and the children. I'm also currently using Avene cold cream for the hands as it dries quickly, which is a must for me.

Post pregnancy vitamins & iron supplements. I'm not into supplements generally as I think I can get what I need through food, but I was very low in iron after the birth and combined with the sleep deprivation I felt I needed them!

My accessories

I have been using the St. Germain since we launched it last fall and I love it, it goes with me everywhere! I'm also taking the Maxi Brooklyn with me as it’s so versatile, will hold all my papers during the trip and I will use it as an clutch when we go out for dinner... easy!

My book

The Democratic Education by Yaacov Hecht. I read an article recently from Yaacov Hecht about his vision on education and I thought it was brilliant: Every child is a genius if we help him/her become one. It's about finding what our children are really good at and love doing and help them develop their strengths to be great at whatever it is that they love. If I learnt something at Harvard it's that we need to do something we are passionate about to be happy personally and succeed professionally, and I hope I can encourage my children to go after what they love as well.

I will also be dedicating some time to design our new SS16 collection and finalising the marketing plan for this fall. Very exciting... there’s never a dull moment!

With love,

Mireia
