CDE LIGHTBAND INITIATES NEW OTT PRODUCT DEPLOYMENT TO GROW ITS EXPANDING VIDEO PRODUCT LINE

May 5, 2015 (FPRC) -- CLARKSVILLE, TN/ MEMPHIS, TN (May 5, 2015): It was announced today that CDE Lightband a municipal power and broadband provider in Clarksville, TN has begun its initial development phase and deployment of OTT (Over the Top) video services utilizing the Gravity TV hosted, white label technology in an effort to expand the reach of the CDE Lightband video product line. While already providing an extensive package of cable television networks, video on demand and TV Everywhere services to homes in the Clarksville market, CDE Lightband is also trying to reach highly sought after millennial customers who are demanding a more portable way to view their television services.
“Our video product has had wide spread adoption in the Clarksville market but we feel that in order to continue to serve the greatest range of customers we need to be at the cutting edge of deploying a multi screen product,” said Christy Batts, Broadband Division Manager. “We also are seeking to add a value product line to our home based customers so that they can also take advantage of the trending OTT service offerings.”
CDE Lightband licenses video services from major television providers through the National Telco Television Consortium, NTTC, who is currently negotiating added rights with all network providers to meet this growing OTT need. “Television networks adopted TV Everywhere authenticated services as their early play in the multi screen market, however, there is growing pressure to provide the most portable product available with a potentially different channel lineup than the one found in the home,” said Kevin Kenworthy, Executive Vice President of Programming for NTTC.
CDE Lightband will utilize the GravityTV OTT technology app which currently serves customers with an initial channel lineup of specialized video programming networks for early adopting subscribers. The overall goal is to expand the available networks for this app so that it will provide a similar television value found in a typical in-home service.
