After creating and texturing several models I grew tired of appending, recreating and reconnecting nodes each time I developed an aircraft model. So I created this node tree to help reduce some time when texturing and making materials. I also wanted to give back to the Blender and Military-Meshes communities that have helped me so much in learning not only Blender, but how to use it to create quality images of aircraft. This can easily be modified for any vehicle types or models. I am releasing this ZIP file and its contents under the under the CC-O Creative Commons License so all can use this as they see fit.

The Material/Node Tree includes:
Basic WWII-era Federal Standard base paint color inputs
Adjustment inputs for the paint finish (Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Satin and Flat paint)
Inputs to allow for an overlay of 2 sets of decals (each with its own glossiness and opacity controls),Shaders that A procedural dirt shader with ability to control dirt color, scale, and intensity
A scratches and abrasions shader with ability to control scratch color, scale, reflectivity, and intensity
A paint noise shader with ability to control scale, brightness and intensity
A panel warp shader with ability to control panel warp scale, distortion and displacement
A decal shader with ability to control decal opacity and glossiness
Inputs for Rivet and Panel Bump textures and Decal textures
Included in the attached ZIP file are:
Aircraft Colors.blend – Blend file that contains the Material/Node Tree.
Blender Aircraft Material and Node Tree.pdf – README Instructions
Panel Lines Bump.png – Sample panel line bump map.
Rivets Bump.png - Sample rivet bump map.
Sample Decals Diamond.png – Simple diamond decal.
Sample Decals Roundel.png – USAAF Roundel decal.
Blender Users, please check it out and give me any feedback you might have for improvements.
You can play around with the settings in the Blend file to see the different effects.
Enjoy and have fun with it! Message me with any questions or suggestions.
