As a parent, the propensity to be an actual “foodie” went out the window with macaroni and cheese served with chicken nuggets. I will say the older my kids get the more refined their taste (yes, my 14 year old son actually likes and asks for sushi – like I can afford that). But when it comes to healthy AND refined? I believe I was like them in thinking that they were mutually exclusive terms. That is until I went to Humboldt last week (in the location that was once Strings – on the corner of 17th and Humboldt). While we were there we tried the best hamburger I believe I have tasted (and understand that it was voted best in Denver by Westword) bu beyond that – we tried the crispy broccoli. I have been dreaming of it since then! I have to go back and get more. Plus, the fact that they were broccoli my kids loved too – makes me a happy mommy!
National Donut Day
