It’s the most beloved or dreaded time of year: back-to-school shopping! This morning on 9News My20 at 8:40 a.m., I’ll be doing a fashion show with all the latest styles featured below from Kohl’s, Dillard’s and The Children’s Place.
Disclaimer: My children and family friends are my models. That’s my way of saying there may be swinging from the chandeliers.
Or rather, from the studio lights.
=====
Boys, Children’s Place
Featured: The Children’s Place Premium denim jeans ($29.95), short-sleeve woven shirt ($16.95), super soft short-sleeve T-shirt ($12.95), casual slip-on shoes ($22.95).
Remember those days when boy’s clothing wasn’t stylish nor cute? Those days are over! There are plenty of fun trends this fall for boys–from comfortable jeans (the distressed look is in) and lots and lots of layers for shirts. Colored skinny jeans are still the rage (even for boys!) but many stores are returning back to the basics with lightweight cargo pants, rugby and polo shirts.

Girls, Children’s Place
Featured: Leopard cardigan sweater ($29.95), sparkle lace cami ($9.95), jeggings ($19.95), boots ($29.95), sparkle hair accessory ($4.95).
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and that is no more evident than with this fall’s fashions, which are bold, fun and creative. Animal prints continue to be all the rage, as are hot colors like tangerine, ultramarine green and neon. Big head bands a la Gossip Girl are coveted and skinny jeans just got skinner with super-skinny jeans and jeggings…in bold, fun colors, of course. Tassled boots are stylish as are ballet flats in shiny colors or neon sneakers.

Teen-aged boy, Kohl’s
Featured: Light brown Tony Hawk shorts ($18.99), Rolling Stones tee ($12.99).
Kohl’s is the ultimate one-stop shopping stop for back-to-school. Boys go back to basics, loading up on tees, hoodies and denim. Big trends in tees are stripes, verbiage, novelty screens, bright colors and themes from the 70s and 80s. Big trends in hoodies are performance fabric and pull overs while in denim, skinny/straight fits are popular. Denim colors are trending more muted with a focus on khaki and charcoal.
====
Teen-aged girl, Dillard’s
Featured: Miss Me Skinny Jeans ($110), Black Miss Me Backpack ($79.99), Copper Key White Tank ($9.99), Blue Alythea Blouse ($49.50), Gianni Bini Silver Wedges ($39.99), Anna and Ava Suzie Bib Necklace in Mint ($25), Anna and Ava Square Stretch Bracelet in Mint ($20), Dillard’s Boxed Collection Cubic Band Ring ($12.50).
If you like the movie Clueless, you’ll love what’s in-style, including the ever-popular skinny jeans, collared, blousy, loose shirts and tanks and bright blazers. Bold-colored checked or plaid mini-skirts and maxi dresses are hot as well. For shoes, Mary Jane platforms and wedges are all the rage, as are Tom-esque shoes. To accessorize, big, chunky, and bright jewelry is coming back, along with gold jewelry. Silver isn’t the go-to metal anymore, and metals are being mixed more.
