Trump, Clinton capture key wins on Super Tuesday | 01 March 2016 | Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton rolled up a series of wins on Tuesday, as the two presidential front-runners took a step toward capturing their parties' nominations on the 2016 campaign's biggest day of state-by-state primary contests. Trump and Clinton turned their sights on each other after their Super Tuesday wins, with Trump promising to "go after" Clinton and the former secretary of state decrying what she called Trump's divisive rhetoric. U.S. networks projected Trump won six and Clinton seven states on Super Tuesday, when 12 states were voting. Trump won Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Virginia, while Clinton won Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton Score Big Super Tuesday Primary Wins | 01 March 2016 | Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton closed in on their party's presidential nominations by racking up big wins on Super Tuesday, though the rest of the field showed no signs of clearing the way for them just yet. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz picked up much-needed wins in his home state of Texas and in Oklahoma. And Florida Sen. Marco Rubio picked up the first victory of his presidential campaign by winning the Minnesota Republican caucuses, leaving John Kasich and Ben Carson as the only candidates without a No. 1 finish in a nominating contest.
US warns of Mosul dam collapse in northern Iraq | 29 Feb 2016 | The US Embassy in Baghdad has warned the risk of the Mosul Dam collapsing is "serious and unprecedented" and has urged people to be ready to evacuate. Maintenance work was disrupted after the dam was briefly seized by the so-called Islamic State [aka I-CIA-SIS] group in 2014. According to the embassy, floodwaters could kill nearly 1.5 million Iraqis living along the River Tigris.
Twin suicide bombing kills 70 in Baghdad's deadliest attack this year | 29 Feb 2016 | A twin suicide bombing claimed by Islamic State killed 70 people in a Shi'ite district of Baghdad on Sunday in the deadliest attack inside the capital this year, as militants launched an assault on its western outskirts. Police sources said the suicide bombers were riding motorcycles and blew themselves up in a crowded mobile phone market in Sadr City, wounding more than 100 people in addition to the dead...At dawn on Sunday, suicide bombers and gunmen attacked Iraqi security forces in Abu Ghraib, seizing positions in a grain silo and a cemetery, and killing at least 17 members of the security forces, officials said.
At least 11 killed in suicide bombing near governor's office in Kunar, Afghanistan | 27 Feb 2016 | At least 11 people have been killed and 40 others wounded in a suicide attack in the eastern Afghan city of Asadabad, Kunar province, Pajhwok Afghan News reports, citing officials. A suicide bomber detonated explosives near the governor's office, local media say. Provincial Governor Wahidullah Kalimzai said the attacker arrived on a motorcycle to the entrance of the government headquarters, and blew himself up.
U.S. to test-fire ICBM amid strategic tensions with Russia, North Korea --Tests have been conducted at least 15 times since January 2011 - Deputy Defense Secretary Robert Work | 26 Feb 2016 | The U.S. military plans to test-fire its second intercontinental ballistic missile in a week overnight on Thursday to demonstrate the reliability of American nuclear arms at a time of rising strategic tensions with countries like Russia and North Korea. The unarmed Minuteman III missile will blast off from a silo at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California late on Thursday or early on Friday, headed toward a target area near Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands of the South Pacific.
US ally Saudi Arabia: Court sentences man to 10 years and 2,000 lashes for atheist tweets | 27 Feb 2016 | A Saudi Arabian court has sentenced a 28-year-old man to 10 years imprisonment and 2,000 lashes for hundreds of atheist posts on Twitter, media reported. The Saudi religious police [comprised of pedophiles, sociopaths, and terrorists], which is also responsible for monitoring social networks, found more than 600 "atheist" tweets on the page of an unnamed user, AP reports...Saudi Arabia [aka I-CIA-SIS on steroids] is known for its strict laws based on the Sharia system.
Soldiers from Israel teach counter-terrorism in Southington, CT | 25 Feb 2016 | In an old former factory in Southington are two sisters from Brooklyn, New York, named Chaya And Rachel Shapiro. The two are healthcare workers by trade who made the trip to Connecticut to prepare for an act of terrorism. Krupkin is a director of operations from an Israeli counter- terrorism company called Caliber 3...This week Caliber 3 has also been offering lessons in the Constitution State, a first of its kind for them in the USA. The lessons are taught by members currently serving in Israel's special forces.
Italy asks U.S. to explain report that NSA spied on Berlusconi | 23 Feb 2016 | Italy's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday called on the United States' ambassador to "clarify" reports from an Italian newspaper and WikiLeaks that the U.S. National Security Agency spied on then-Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in 2011. The report ran in the weekly newspaper L'Espresso in collaboration with the secrets-exposing organization WikiLeaks. "The Italian Foreign Ministry has summoned the U.S. ambassador, John Phillips, to clarify the news appeared (in) the press, according to which the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and some of his close collaborators would have been subject to wiretaps in 2011," a ministry statement reads.
President Obama expected to attend Rays-Cuba exhibition game | 01 March 2016 | The Tampa Bay Rays will travel to Cuba to play the Cuban National Team in an exhibition game on March 22, and U.S. President Barack Obama is expected to be in attendance. "Americans and Cubans share a love of baseball, and this is yet another powerful reminder of the kinship between our peoples as well as the progress we can achieve when we leverage those natural ties," a White House official said Tuesday. Major League Baseball and the MLBPA [Major League Baseball Players Association] officially announced the exhibition in a release earlier Tuesday evening.
F.B.I. Error Locked San Bernardino Attacker's iPhone | 01 March 2016 | The head of the F.B.I. acknowledged on Tuesday that his agency lost a chance to capture data from the iPhone used by one of the [alleged] San Bernardino attackers when it ordered that his password to the online storage service iCloud be reset shortly after the rampage. "There was a mistake made in the 24 hours after the attack," James B. Comey Jr., the director of the F.B.I., told lawmakers at a hearing on the government's [insane] attempt to force Apple to help "unlock" the iPhone. F.B.I. personnel apparently believed that by resetting the iCloud password, they could get access to information stored on the iPhone. Instead, the change had the opposite effect -- locking them out and eliminating other means of getting in.
Apple accuses FBI of violating constitutional rights in iPhone battle | 25 Feb 2016 | Apple's lawyers believe forcing America’s largest company to help the government crack open one of its iPhones would violate the US constitution and be a misinterpretation of a 227-year-old law. The 36-page legal brief, submitted on 25 February, is Apple's first formal rebuttal to a court order to write and sign software that would make it easier for investigators to open a phone used by [alleged] San Bernardino gunman Syed Farook, who, with his wife Tashfeen Malik, [allegedly] killed 14 and wounded 22 on 2 December. The tech firm's attorneys argue the government seeks "a dangerous power that Congress and the American people have withheld: the ability to force companies like Apple to undermine the basic security and privacy interests of hundreds of millions of individuals around the globe."
Indian Point nuclear plant, 25 miles from New York City, called 'disaster waiting to happen' | 23 Feb 2016 | The recent radioactive leak at New York's Indian Point nuclear power plant is prompting renewed calls for the site to be shut down, amid growing concerns about the potential damage a nuclear accident could do in one of the most densely populated parts of the country. In the past year alone there have been a number of mishaps at Indian Point, including a power failure in the reactor core, a transformer fire, an alarm failure, and the escape of radiated water into groundwater. The plant sits about 25 miles north of New York City, so a serious mishap could potentially put millions of people in harm's way...Earlier this month, Entergy Corporation, which owns Indian Point, reported increased levels of tritium-contaminated water at three monitoring wells, with one well's radioactivity increasing by as much as 65,000 percent.
Fukushima meltdown announcement made months late - TEPCO | 24 Feb 2016 | The reactor meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant hit by a tsunami in 2011 should have been announced much sooner, the operator admitted this week. In a statement, the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) said that a public declaration of the meltdown should have been done within days of the disaster. Instead it denied that a meltdown was taking place for almost two months...After Koichiro Nakamura, a senior Nuclear and Industry Safety Agency (NISA) official told a news conference a day after the disaster that a "meltdown of the reactor's core" may be taking place, he was removed from a PR position at the agency.
Dozens quarantined, 3 sick after U.S. Customs in Alameda receives suspicious envelope | 24 Feb 2016 | Up to 50 people have been quarantined after an employee opened envelope with a suspicious powdery substance in an United States Customs office in Alameda. A 2:43 pm emergency call was made reporting the employee feeling sick immediately after opening the envelope, KNTV reported. Two more people also felt sick.
Jeff Sessions Endorses Trump from Stage in Alabama, Slams TPP in Front of Crowd of 32,000 | 28 Feb 2016 | 2016 GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump picked up the most significant endorsement any presidential candidate in the GOP can get here on Sunday: Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL). Sessions, the intellectual leader of the future of the conservative movement, has provided the brainpower behind the populist nationalist revolt against political elites that's been emerging since at least 2013. At a warm and windy rally here with thousands present in a packed football stadium just outside Huntsville, Sessions appeared on stage with Trump to back him for president.

In his furthest-reaching attack yet, Trump on Saturday accused Florida Sen. Marco Rubio of stealing from the Florida Republican Party and suggested Rubio should have been "indicted" for using a state party American Express card for personal expenses. "Rubio stole from the Republican Party," Trump said of Rubio, with whom he has recently engaged in a public war of words.
Clinton Thunders to Big Win in South Carolina | 27 Feb 2016 | Hillary Clinton will win a landslide victory in South Carolina's Democratic primary Saturday, NBC News projects. Clinton defeated Bernie Sanders by double digits, dominating the minority vote in the diverse southern state and showcasing a broad coalition that's expected to deliver another series of victories for her when Democrats in 11 more states head to the polls on Tuesday. Clinton had long led by a wide margin in polling of the Palmetto State, where African American voters make up more than half of the Democratic electorate.

One Richmond voter said his ballot was stuffed into a duffle bag after he handed it over to election officials...Another voter was concerned when he said he was handed a ballot that was already filled out. Trump Supporters in Texas See Votes Switched to Rubio - Report --Callers to KLBJ report ballot irregularities | 01 March 2016 | People voting for Donald Trump in today's Super Tuesday Texas Primary are seeing their ballots changed to show a vote for [Adderall addict] Marco Rubio. Numerous callers flooded Austin-based radio station KLBJ this morning with reports of mistakes [aka out-and-out election-rigging] after they tried to vote for Trump. According to KLBJ, "computer freezeups" and other "glitches" are causing voting snafus at locations all around Travis County. Trump supporters previously accused the Rubio campaign of stealing votes in Iowa after the Florida Senator achieved a surprise third place finish.
N.J. Gov. Chris Christie endorses Donald Trump, amplifies attacks on Marco Rubio | 26 Feb 2016 | A day after his [attempted] pounding by rival Marco Rubio in a Republican presidential debate, Donald Trump picked up the endorsement Friday of former opponent Chris Christie, who instantly joined him in fiercely attacking the Florida senator as unfit for the presidency. "I can guarantee you that the one person that Hillary and Bill Clinton do not want to see on that stage come next September is Donald Trump," the New Jersey governor said at an appearance with the New York billionaire in Fort Worth. The surprise endorsement gave Trump extra firepower as he fought Friday to mount a ferocious counterattack against Rubio.

Trump was declared the winner of the Nevada caucuses on Tuesday night, according to The Associated Press, gaining a third consecutive victory in an early-voting state and strengthening his position in the Republican presidential race before the wave of Super Tuesday elections on March 1...For Mr. Trump, the outcome in Nevada is another sign of his campaign's durability and the breadth of his appeal: He has now handily won primary elections in New England and in the South, and a caucus fight in the far West. Wildlife Officials Allow Killing of 100 Spotted Owls in Klamath National Forest | 23 Feb 2016 | Federal wildlife officials authorized the U.S. Forest Service to kill up to 103 threatened northern spotted owls in 14 timber sales slated for auction this spring in the Klamath National Forest. The Westside Fire Recovery Project will clear-cut 6,800 acres on slopes above the Klamath River where lightning fires in the summer of 2014 affected owl habitat reserves. "Natural fires restored the forest after decades of fire suppression and gave spotted owls a kitchen full of food," said Jay Lininger, a senior scientist with the Center for Biological Diversity. "Owls can thrive with fire, but they cannot survive clear-cutting after fire."
Kansas gunman kills 3, injures 14 before dying in shootout with police | 26 Feb 2016 | A gunman armed with what police called an "assault-style" weapon killed three people and injured 14 others in Kansas Thursday before he was killed by a police officer. All three victims and 12 of the injured were shot at inside Excel Industries, a plant in Hesston that makes lawn mower products, Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton said. Of those hurt, 10 were critically wounded, he said. Authorities have not officially identified the deceased suspect, but multiple co-workers identified the shooter to local media as Cedric Ford.
U.S. court allows Louisiana abortion restrictions to go into effect | 24 Feb 2016 | A U.S. appeals court on Wednesday allowed Louisiana to enforce a restrictive 2014 abortion law critics say is aimed at shutting clinics, ending a halt to the measure handed out by a lower court judge earlier this year. The Louisiana-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit granted a request from the state to put into effect the law requiring physicians who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles (48 km) of the place where the abortion is performed. The Center for Reproductive Rights, an abortion rights group...said it would appeal to the decision the U.S. Supreme Court.
