R&M Cat. 6 UTP end-to-end cabling solution to deliver voice, data and video transmission across whole complex
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: Reichle & De-Massari (R&M), the Swiss structured cabling specialist, today announced that it has been contracted to deliver a high-performance, end-to-end cabling infrastructure solution for the Panorama commercial and residential project in Oman, comprising of R&M’s proprietary Cat. 6 UTP connectivity technology. The high-performance cabling solution for voice, video and data transmission will provide the backbone for delivery of reliable, secure and high-speed internet, IPTV, CCTV, videoconferencing and similar modern day communication applications.
The Panorama project involves construction of a commercial and residential complex consisting of 7 towers, each comprising 2 basement levels, a ground floor and 7 additional floors. 2 towers are for 5 star hotels, each offering 140 rooms, 4 towers for serviced apartments and 1 tower for office premises. This complex will also include a shopping mall, 3 cinema halls, food courts, a library, a health club and lifestyle stores. Panorama will be situated in the Al Khuwair commercial district of Muscat, five minutes away from Ruwi, the central business district of the country. Allied Real Estate LLC, an established Omani real estate company owned by H.E. Sheikh. Salim bin Ali al Siyabi, a prominent business leader in Oman, is behind the project.
The cabling solution comprises 4500 points of R&M Cat. 6 copper cables enabling upto 10Gbe connectivity and supporting applications with bandwidth of up to 500 MHz. Installation of the R&M cables which is expected to be completed by March 2014, is being carried out by the cabling vendor’s partner, Al-Jassar Telecom (AJT), a company that has been providing high quality ICT products and services to the industrial and construction sectors in the Sultanate of Oman for nearly two decades.

AJT has signed a five year annual maintenance contract (AMC) with the project developers and a dedicated team of trained engineers will ensure that the infrastructure operates at the highest levels of efficiency and performance. Once the implementation is complete AJT will also provide training to the technical staff that will be employed within the various towers.
