Proceeds and donations from charity drive will go towards a worthy cause

Early detection and treatment can reduce breast cancer related deaths

144  women with breast cancer  have been helped by Hayatt over the past five years

Kuwait: “Hayatt”, a part of Ruqayah Abdulwahab Alqatami Breast Cancer Foundation, launched “Life is Sharing” Breast Cancer Charity Drive to raise money for patients suffering from breast cancer and raise awareness. The drive coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October 2013) and will include a charity dinner on 23rd October 2013, at Missoni Hotel Ballroom , and will hosted by the famous Saudi singer Waed.

The donations received from the charity drive will go towards the Breast Cancer Foundation to help breast cancer patients get the much needed treatment but also reinforce the importance of early detection, and give to all Kuwaiti women access to proper assessment of breast cancer.

“Hayatt” organized the conference on breast cancer awareness to take the vital message of early cancer detection can reduce breast cancer related deaths through various programs and community activities. It was attended by Mrs. Laila Alghanim, President of Hayatt- Ruqayah Abdulwahab Alqatami Breast Cancer Foundation; Dr. Labiba Temmim, Executive Director & Medical Affairs, Hayatt – Ruqayah Abdulwahab Alqatami Breast Cancer Foundation,  Fawzya Alomaym Executive PR  Hayatt – Ruqayah Abdulwahab Alqatami Breast Cancer Foundation; members of Bader Sultan & Brothers Co , Ali Abdulwahab Co, Roche  , Tanagra , Barakat travels , Alfares jewelry,   Missoni Hotel as well as local media and members of Hayatt-Ruqayah Abdulwahab Breast Cancer Foundation.

Speaking at the conference, Mrs. Laila Alghanim, President of Hayatt Breast Cancer Foundation said, “Statistics state that early detection and treatment can reduce breast cancer related deaths. October is observed as the breast cancer awareness month worldwide and it is important to remind women in Kuwait of the dangers of the disease. We have always been committed to promoting awareness of breast cancer; what to look for and where to go to for information.”

“The strong trust and credibility that “Hayatt” enjoys is reflected in the level of support that increases year on year from our partners and the community. We are grateful to have the assistance of various government entities, corporate, consumer brands, medical institutions, individuals and their families. Each of them have continued to join hands with us to amplify our key message of constant vigilance and early detection and deepen the impact of awareness in Kuwait,” she added.

Over the last 5 years, “Hayatt” began various initiatives including “Hayatt Breast Cancer Screening Center”   the first in its kind at Yarmouk Al Abdulhadi Health Center  which was inaugurated on the 5th of March 2012 that was made possible thanks to donations of generous philanthropists and partners. In addition, donations will be collected to cover the treatment of those who cannot afford the costs of specialized treatments.

Dr. Labiba Temmim, Executive Director & Medical Affairs, Hayatt Ruqayah Abdulwahab Alqatami Breast Cancer Foundation said: “Approximately 1 in 9 women have an estimated life time risk for developing breast cancer. Everyone can join the fight by spreading knowledge about the disease, encouraging their loved ones to get screened and donating to help underprivileged women get screening and proper treatment. The earlier breast cancer is diagnosed, the better the treatment options available and the higher the survival rate. Breast cancer is a curable disease, agonizing and painful months of chemotherapy treatment can be avoided by only doing yearly check-ups and undergoing a life- saving mammography in women.”

We want to raise awareness, so women in Kuwait understand the importance of early detection. We are even reaching out through various social media campaigns that will bring more awareness to the people and will encourage customers to make donations towards this worthy cause.
