Dubai, UAE: Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) and Emirates Petroleum Product Company (EPPCO) have marked a milestone with its Vehicle Identification Pass (ViP), a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)-based fuel retailing system, recording 10,000 registered vehicles from over 50 companies since the initiative’s rollout. Following the success of the revolutionary system, the service is now available across the entire ENOC/EPPCO network for commercial users and fleet owners.

Saeed Khoory, Chief Executive Officer of ENOC, said: “The implementation of convenient and efficient state-of-the-art technologies is an integral part of our vision. The automation drive implemented across our network will further streamline the fundamental aspects of purchasing fuel, making it a secure experience for our commercial customers and fleet owners. The new electronic services represent a firm step forward towards our commitment to innovation and ensuring superior service standards.”

Commenting on the efficiency of the new system, Captain Mubarak Saeed Al Ameri, Head of Vehicle and Spare Parts Purchase Section of Dubai Police General H.Q, said: “Based on our successful experience in implementing the Vehicle Identification Pass system in our vehicles, we recommend it to all commercial users and fleet owners as a result of its efficiency, ease of use, and its pivotal role in minimising the amount of time required to refuel.”

Burhan Al Hashemi, Managing Director of ENOC Retail, said: “The remarkable response from our customers underlines their acceptance of our new initiative and encourages us to continue to innovate. We are committed to introducing an integrated, tech-driven fuelling system, which will further enhance our operational efficiency.”

Enabling motorists to refuel conveniently, the ViP system also allows registered users to benefit from ease in account-keeping through completely automated operations. Automatically recognising the vehicle being fuelled, ViP deducts the cost from the registered user’s account, without the need of an attendant.

Implementing radio-frequency technology to transfer data, the service only permits the accepted amount and fuel type to be refuelled based on the limits and restrictions set by the fleet owners, enhancing users’ efficiency. Payments are debited from the customer’s account, with account updates delivered in real time.

The ViP system encompasses of an electronic chip that is mounted over the fuel tank inlet of the registered vehicle, where transactions are simultaneously logged in to a secure database at ENOC. ViP will eventually replace Select Cards, the current refuelling system, by the end of this year.

ENOC is at the forefront of several industry-leading initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies and promote sustainable development.
