In keeping with company’s support to academic institutions
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Ellucian has collaborated with Qatar University (QU), the State of Qatar’s national university, to deploy the new Bannertechnology to support its growing student services portfolio, and its commitment to becoming a world class institution. QU is one of the first institutions in the region to deploy Banner and partners with Ellucian to support the institution’s adoption of the new technologies.
The newly-installed Banner technology from Ellucian is an extensible ecosystem that allows institutions to configure and deploy new applications to support an ever-evolving campus, without sacrificing existing infrastructure. The Bannermodules deployed atQU include Course Catalogue, Class Schedule and Event Management. The Event Management module is a new capability in Banner that allows QU to provide prospective students with online information about university events, opportunities to meet faculty and staff, and for students to integrate these events with their smartphones and tablet devices.

“We are endeavoring to support a flexible approach for QU, as we realize their need to be responsive and adaptive to a rapidly changing infrastructure and business landscape. Qatar is one of the most dynamic economic environments in the world, with huge demands around human capital. Banner is engineered keeping these challenges and opportunities in mind. We are proud to see QU in an elite group and being an early new Banner technology adopter institution within our community,” said Mathew Boice, Vice President of EMEA and India, Ellucian. “The quality of higher education institutions in Qatar continues to flourish, and technology is an integral part of this evolution. We believe the upgraded deployments of Banner will strengthen the way QU delivers technology support services and we look forward to continuing to partner with QU, and support their commitment to serving their students with excellence.”
“Qatar University continues to develop at a rapid pace, which is evident by its ever increasing student enrolment and also in the quality and breadth of its programs and the many options available to students,” said Trevor Andrew Moore, the university’s Chief Information Officer. “QU’s learning management system is at the heart of its academic and research environment and in deploying technology tools such as Banner, we are providing students with the optimum resources to excel. Additionally, it enables us to transform how we connect with the QU community, as well as with other systems within the university. We are pleased to work with Ellucian in upgrading to the new technology systems which allow us to successfully manage and deliver superlative services to the university in line with its goal to becoming a world class institution and contributing to the realization of the National Vision and the development strategies.”
