Welcome to Style Sabbaticals, where we reveal what the fashion industry's top professionals did on their Miami vacay and, most importantly, where they shopped!

"The new collection, titled 'ALOHA,' is our love letter to Hawaii, a place that we consider our second home," say sisters Kalani and Oleema Miller, the bronzed babes behindcult favorite swim line, Mikoh. The two made it out to Miami this year to present their Swim 2016 collection during Swim Week, which consisted of palm leaves, deep blushes and blues, and tons of 70s surf-inspired pieces.

The two laid back beach lovers were born and raised on the beaches of Orange County and come from a line of surfers and creatives (in fact, Kalani is dating world-renowned surfer Kelly Slater), and today they run one of the most successful beach labels in the country, with swim, ready to wear, kids and even surf wear. But what do these world travelers do on their day off in Miami? We tapped in Oleema to find out.

Talk to me about Swim Week- how was the show?!

Oleema Miller: The collection is largely inspired by the groovy surf culture of Hawaii in the 1970s. Miami Swim Week was hectic beyond belief, but so rewarding. We were so excited to share the new collection with everyone, which we've been working on for so long and has been such a long process. We decided to switch it up from a runway show to a presentation this year to enhance the ambiance of the collection and create a casual, laid-back vibe.

Do you come to Miami often?

Unfortunately my sister (MIKOH co-founder Kalani Miller) and I usually make it to Miami just once a year during swim week, but every time we come, we fall in love with the city even more. This year, we got here a few days before the shows began to immense ourselves in Miami's culture.

What did you do for fun?

Miami has the most incredible cuisine and nightlife, and exploring a bit out of South Beach (where all of the shows are) felt like we were transported to Latin America. Love!

Did you do any shopping?

We just discovered Bal Harbour Shops, and we spent more time than we're willing to reveal shopping at Neiman Marcus!

Ooh, what did you buy?

We bought a handful of shoes, from Celine slip ons to Givenchy boots.

Any notable eateries?

We loved eating at STK and Yardbird, and also fell in love with the menu at My Ceviche. The tacos, salads, ceviche, and fresh fish were amazing. One of our favorite places for rose and Moscow mules is Cecconi's at Soho Beach House.

What's the one thing you can't leave Miami without doing?

Jumping in the ocean, having the tapas platter at the Matador Room, and at least one Cuban meal.

Was there anything that surprised you about Miami this trip?

Every time we come, we learn something about Miami's diverse, unique culture. And everyone is so friendly, too! It's always fun for both of us to experience new cultures and doing so while staying in the US is such a cool experience.

Describe Miami in one word.
