Melbourne Victory

0-2

Perth Glory

Rosie Sutton 17’, Vanessa DiBernardo 65’

Perth Glory secured all three points on the road as it served Melbourne Victory its fourth straight loss with a 2-0 defeat at Lakeside Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Glory opened the scoring through Rosie Sutton in the first half before Vanessa DiBernardo extended its lead after the break.

The Western Australians began the game with gusto and it was soon rewarded a quarter of an hour in when Rosie Sutton’s close-range strike was enough to beat Bethany Mason-Jones in the Victory goal.

Jeff Hopkins’ side responded well, although it failed to manifest into any noteworthy opportunities.

Perth was forced to look to its bench after shot-stopper Melissa Maizels sustained an injury just before the interval.

Following a dominant start to the second half, the Glory added a second from a DiBernardo long range effort that nestled itself into the top corner.

Much of the 45 was played on Glory’s terms, despite Victory going close to pegging one back on a number of occasions.

While Samantha Kerr didn’t get her name on the scoresheet, she headlined the visitors’ attack, launching forward and creating attempts on goal on countless occasions.

The Victory will look to bounce back against Western Sydney in its Round 6 clash at Lakeside Stadium on Sunday.
