Date: Saturday, October 5th, 2013 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

October 6th

Commerce Fire Department Open House
Date: Sunday, October 6th, Noon — 3:00 PM.

Location: Ralph Richardson Community Senior Center — 1485 Oakley Park Road, Commerce Township, 48390 (across from Walled Lake Central). 

Parking in the High School Parking lot. Bring the whole family to meet the fire fighters, see our fire-fighting equipment, see demonstrations, and more!

Troy Fire Department Open House

Date: Sunday, October 6 from 1- 4 pm. 

Location: The department will host open houses at all six fire stations. 

Station #1: 1019 E. Big Beaver

Station #2: 5600 Livernois

Station #3: 2400 W. Big Beaver

Station #4: 2103 E. Maple

Station #5: 6399 John R

Station #6: 5901 Coolidge*

There will also be several activities and demonstrations to educate and entertain all who attend. Visitors can enjoy stop, drop and roll demonstrations, ladder truck rides (Station 1,2,3); E.D.I.T.H. practice in the Fire Safety House (Station 2); and at all stations visitors can handle fire hoses; watch vehicle extrication and fire extinguisher training - how they work and how to use them in your home. Sparky the Fire Dog will make appearances at Station 6 at 1 pm, Station 2 at 2 pm, and Station 5 at 3 pm, and the Antique Fire Truck will be on display at Station 4 at 1 pm, Station 1 at 2 pm and Station 5 at 3 pm. Alliance Mobile Health will be at Stations 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 where families can interact with the paramedics. At Fire Station 6 will be a display from the Oakland County Haz-Mat Unit and at Station 1 on display a piece of the World Trade Center.

The Troy Community Lions Club will be doing child eye screenings at Station 5.

Refreshments and drawings for prizes are also available at each Fire Station.

Clinton Township Fire Department Open House
Date: Sunday, October 6, 2013 pre-event ceremony - 11:30 open house noon - 3pm
Location: Fire Headquarters, 42601 Romeo Plank Rd

The Clinton Township Department of Fire-Rescue-EMS will be commemorating Fire Prevention Week with their Annual Open House to be held on Sunday, October 6, 2013. The public event will be located at Fire Headquarters, 42601 Romeo Plank Rd., and will run from noon until 3 p.m. A pre-event ceremony, beginning at 11:30 a.m. will be held to distribute awards to selected elementary school students and to present citations to members of the community. Join the firefighters and staff for demonstrations, displays, and fun activities, including a trip through the smokehouse, a ride with Stan the Magical Fireman, face painting and the firefighters in action using the "Jaws of Life". As a service to the community, personnel will be on-hand to take complimentary blood pressure checks. Free parking, admission, and fire prevention material.

October 11th

Farmington Hills Fire Department Fire Prevention Open House 

Date: October 11 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

Location:  Fire Headquarters located at 31455 W. 11 Mile Road (at Orchard Lake Road).

The free event will feature educational demonstrations from Farmington Hills Fire Fighters and fun activities for all ages. Participants can sit in a fire truck, learn about escape techniques in the Fire Safety House, dress up in fire fighter’s gear, and get their photo taken with Sparky the Fire Dog. Free hot dogs will be provided.

Information booths will feature displays from Botsford Hospital, the Farmington Hills Police Department, the City Clerk’s Office, and the Emergency Preparedness Commission.

Location: Meijer Parking Lot (corner of Auburn Rd and Rochester Rd)

See numerous fire trucks, ambulances, rescue vehicles, demonstrations, a helicopter and more. Enjoy some cider and spend time with local firefighters.

October 12th

Birmingham Fire Department’s Annual Open House
Date: Saturday, October 12, 2013 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Location: Adams Fire Station 572 South Adams

The hands-on event offers attendees an opportunity to operate a fire hose and learn about fire safety. Portable fire extinguisher and DTE Arcs and Sparks demonstrations also will take place during the open house. View an EMS and vehicle extrication display, along with HAZMAT apparatus and equipment. Allen Park Fire Department Open House 
Date: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 12.
Location:  6730 Roosevelt Rd. Allen Park

The event is open to anyone that wants to come by and meet the members of the department, or see any of the equipment.

Demonstrations and fire safety information will be provided along with photo opportunities with a fire truck, door prizes and refreshments.

Gibraltar Fire Department Annual Open House

Canton Fire Department Open House 

Date: Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.,

Location: Fire Station #1, located at 1100 S. Canton Center Road.  

This year’s open house, being held in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week Oct 6-12, will include station tours, fire gear dress-up station, fire safety fun bags for kids, fire prevention handouts, hot dogs and popcorn.  The department’s Fire Safety House will also be open for kids to go through.

In addition to the Open House, the fire department will be doing fire safety talks at local elementary schools during the month of October.  Later in the year, the department will hold its Annual Fire Prevention Poster Contest (information to be sent out through the elementary schools).

Brighton Area Fire Authority open house. 

Date: October 13th 10 am to 3 pm

Bring the kids (big or little) and interact with our staff, tour our station, tour department apparatus, vehicle extrication, kitchen fire demonstration and much much more.

Bloomfield Township Open House 

Date: Sunday, Oct. 13, Noon - 4 p.m.

Location: Township Civic Campus West off Telegraph, south of Long Lake

The Fire Department will set fire to a mock-up of a living room and to a pan of cooking oil on a kitchen stove to show how quickly fire spreads and how firefighters work to extinguish it. 

EMS personnel will extricate a dummy from a crashed car. 

A medical helicopter will touch down (weather permitting) to demonstrate how it can be a lifesaver in emergencies.

The Police Department will give rides in its patrol cars and stage K-9 demonstrations. 

There will also be a tour of the department, demonstration of “drunk goggles” with a golf cart, and, of course, the department’s walking tacos.  DPW Road

Division will give people rides in snow plow trucks and graders. 

The Engineering & Environmental Division will provide information on ways to live a greener lifestyle and protect the environment.

The Building Division will let builders of all ages try building a dog house. 

The Clerk’s Office will hold a Passport Fair to give visitors another opportunity to apply for a new passport or renew their old one. 

The Clerk’s Office also will register voters. 

Tours of the Senior Center will be offered throughout the afternoon.

In conjunction with the Open House, the Michigan Opera Theatre will perform “Little Red Riding Hood” at 2 p.m. at the Bloomfield Township Public Library, at

Lone Pine and Telegraph. (free event)

Livonia Fire & Rescue's annual Fire Prevention Week Open House 

October, 2013 at Fire Station #3, located on Seven Mile at Wayne Road.  Time and date to be determined.  Stay tuned.

  

There is plenty of fun and education for families on fire safety that is presented by Livonia Fire and Rescue. Kids can dress in firefighting gear, squirt a real fire hose, and practice fire safety with Livonia firefighters.
