Nancy Chinigo, account manager - Spec Point and Jeffrey Smith, executive director - Charter Senior Living, were named the Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer's event chairs in Atlanta, Georgia. Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research programs.

"Before my husband passed away from younger-onset Alzheimer's in 2014, we became involved with the Atlanta Walk to End Alzheimer's," said Nancy Chinigo, co-chair for the Atlanta Walk to End Alzheimer's. "Now I feel even more compelled to fight this disease that took my husband too soon."

Walk to End Alzheimer's is more than a walk. It asks participants to unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions. In addition to the three-mile walk, participants learn about Alzheimer's disease and how to get involved with this critical cause, from advocacy opportunities to support programs and services to clinical studies.

"Our staff and volunteers for the Atlanta Walk to End Alzheimer's are in great hands with Nancy and Jeffrey," added Ashlie Ming, manager of constituent events for the Alzheimer's Association, Metro Atlanta Regional Office. "We know with their leadership and passion this will be our most successful walk, bringing in much needed funds to help those in Georgia affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias."

The Atlanta Walk to End Alzheimer's will take place on September 24, 2016 at the BeltLine in Atlanta. Nearly 3,500 people from Metro Atlanta are expected to attend this year's event. To start or join a team, visit georgiawalk.org or call 404-728-6058.
