The Liberty Bell High School No. 1 team took first place among 24 teams from seven schools at a Knowledge Bowl meet in Manson on Jan. 25. Liberty Bell No. 1 — captain Rowan Post, Corey Diamond, Sebastian Hogness and Chase VanderYacht – won all three of its rounds to score 68 points, topping Okanogan No. 2 (60 points) and Tonasket No. 1 (52 points). Liberty Bell No. 2 — captain Skyler Fitzmaurice, Colin Waichler, Noah Batson and Koharu Yonebayashi — took a first and two seconds in its rounds and scored 44 points for seventh place. Scoring 40 points and tying for ninth place was Liberty Bell No. 3 — captain Danny Rodriguez, Charlie Thornton-White, Sylvie LeDuc and Corinne Dietz. Liberty Bell No. 4 — captain Nate Hirsch, Lazo Gitchos, Liliana Hart-Beck and Cameron Quinn — won three rounds and took fourth place with 50 points. Also competing were teams from Omak, Manson, Soap Lake and Chelan. The Liberty Bell teams traveled to Moses Lake on Monday (Feb. 1) for a regional tournament which included a written round. The teams will visit Pateros next Monday (Feb. 8).
