Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an all India common entrance examination to seek admission in courses such as Engineering and etc. In the year 2012, CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has publicized this common examination.

For the year 2015, the Joint Entrance Examination shall be conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education on 4, 10, 11 April 2015 in both offline and online modes. This examination is taken as a gateway for admission into the engineering colleges. Students can log onto to the official website and avail all the examination related information. The result related information is also displayed on the website as well. For the year 2014, the counselling commenced on 14th May 2015.

As far as the course structures of these examinations are concerned the JEE-Main Exam has two papers, Paper-1 and Paper-2. Candidates may opt for either or both of them. Both papers contain multiple choice questions and students are supposed to choose the correct ones.

• Paper-1 is for admission in B.E./B.Tech (online and offline).

• Paper-2 is for admission in B.Arch and B.Planning (offline only).

In the year 2014, approximately 13.56 Lakh students including 316,000 female candidates appeared for JEE-Main exam. The JEE main result 2015 will only be announced once the examinations are successfully conducted.

As and when the students qualify JEE-Mains they can further appear for JEE-Advanced examination. Approximately 150,000 students qualify to appear for JEE-Advanced examination. In the year 2014, approximately 1.19 lakh students appeared for JEE Advanced in out of which 27,152 qualified of which 14,269 i.e. 52.55% qualified from 11 Indian cities.

The examination pattern has undergone many changes. Since the year 2010, the candidates are given paper copies of their answers, and cut offs are announced. The two boards of education which conduct these examinations are CBSE and CSAB and both of them are two different and independent boards. CBSE conducts JEE (Main) examination and publishes the merit list. CSAB only uses the merit list published by CBSE for seat allocation purposes. In preceding years the admission process was conducted through CCB popularly known as Central Counselling Board, while this year CCB has been renamed as CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) for completing the seat allocation process.

Thus, it is always advisable for the students to focus and stay persistence when it comes to these examinations. This will help them to obtain a good position in the same.

The States of Gujarat, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system. Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting based on their State Level Examination, are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main) - 2016 application form online.
