Fire crews were called out to a home on Main Street in Belleville yesterday afternoon. Reports are the fire was contained to the attic of the home, owned by Tom and Ann McNabb. The cause of the blaze is unknown.

A Mifflintown man died in a two-vehicle accident yesterday morning in Millmont. State Police said 63-year-old John Shellenberger failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a pick-up truck, operated by William Smith of Mount Pleasant Mills. Shellenberger was pronounced dead at the scene. Smith was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Geisinger Health Systems wants to know whether patients were satisfied with their visit. If not, you could get a refund. Not only that, but Geisinger will allow the unhappy patients to decide the size of the refund. A key component of the program is a patient app developed by Geisinger allowing certain surgery patients to determine the amount of the refund they want based on their co-pay.

The debate continues in Harrisburg over a budget deal which would raise the state sales tax in order to raise money for education funding. A proposal on the table would raise the sales tax from 6% to 7.25 percent.

Police have identified the driver of a fatal accident outside of Harrisburg this morning. Aaron Garay of Dauphin died in a crash involving three cars in Middle Paxton Township, Dauphine County. Traffic was at a standstill in the westbound lanes of Route 22/322.

A trial will begin in Northumberland County next Thursday for an inmate accused of slashing the throat of a guard at the Coal Township correctional facility. William Cramer is accused of using a razor-like instrument to slash the throat of the guard back in August of 2014.
