The Reedsville Fire Company held an Open House yesterday to officially debut its new building. The fire house, along Route 655, will give the company five bays for apparatus. The old station, on Main Street in Reedsville was destroyed when the roof collapsed.

Volunteers unveiled a new playground at Canoe Creek State Park in Blair County. 40-thousand dollars was raised over four years for the project. Individuals, groups and businesses that raised funds for the project were recognized this weekend.

The final phase of repairs to a bridge in Juniata County will begin today. A new concrete deck on the bridge at the intersection of Sawmill Road near the village of Reeds Gap will require closing the bridge through June 22nd. A detour will be in place through the work.

All work is weather dependent.

Senator Jake Corman will meet with Juniata County residents on Friday to discuss the issues that are important to them. Corman’s Town Hall meeting is at the Walker Grange in Mexico on Friday from 9 to 10 AM. A continental breakfast will be served.

PennDot began resurfacing Front Street in Harrisburg last night. The construction includes Paxton Street between Front and Second Street and the railroad underpass. Crews are working from 6 PM to 6 AM with lane restrictions.

Union County officials uncovered a marijuana growing operation in Lewisburg. Deputies found the operation while serving a bench warrant from Centre County. Drug charges were filed against Matthew Heimbach and Germaine Flesch after plants were found in their apartment on North Third Street in February. Heimbach is also facing a felony gun charge.

Meanwhile, friends and fans are remembering a training camp that Ali built in Schuylkill County PA. Ali built the gym in Deer Lake back in the 70’s. It’s now been turned into a bed and breakfast.

The Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger raised over 2-million-600 dollars over the weekend. The total was announced at the close of the annual broadcast, which serves as the culmination of year-round fundraising efforts for pediatric service at the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
