A Lewistown man has been arrested for corruption of minors along with other charges. Twenty-year-old Troy Shirk was arrested yesterday by police for allegedly sending nude photographs of himself to a 10-year-old boy. A search warrant was executed for Shirk’s residence by Lewistown Borough Police and Granville Township Police. Charges of indecent exposure and dissemination of sexually explicit material to a minor were also filed against Shirk. He was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility on $250,000 bail.
Authorities have lodged charges against two men in connection with a burglary earlier this week in Snyder County. Selinsgrove Borough Police have charged Robert Winton of Selinsgrove and Corey Leiby of Northumberland with burglary, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property. According to police, the incident took place Monday in the 100 block of South Market Street in Selinsgrove. Winton and Leiby were placed in the Snyder County Prison.
Businesses will have the opportunity to learn basic principles of conducting business with local, state and federal governments at a free workshop in Lewistown, conducted by SEDA-Council of Governments Procurement Technical Assistance Center staff. The “Selling to the Government: The First Steps” workshop will be from 10 am to noon on February 28th at the Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation, building 60. Five people have been arrested in connection with a heroin distribution ring operating in the Johnstown and Altoona areas. The ring headed by a Philadelphia man was found in possession of approximately 200 bricks of heroin valued at $100,000. Authorities arrested 40-year-old Damon Devine after he allegedly sold heroin to a confidential informant. Four of Devine’s alleged co-conspirators were also arrested as part of an investigation conducted by the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation, the Blair and Cambria County Drug Task Forces, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the police departments in Altoona and Johnstown.
The community is invited to a public open house for the replacement of a Huntingdon County bridge included in PennDOT’s “Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.” The event will focus on the Route 22 Bridge on the William Penn Highway in Smithfield Township. The open house will include important information including the construction schedule and traffic changes that are planned to take effect while the bridge is being replaced. The open house is Wednesday, March 1st, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at the Huntingdon Borough Building.
